    Back to Reality!

So I am back to work after 17 days off. Oh my goodness it was great. Lie ins, time with the hubby and hanging out with my own kids. Feeling rejuvenated although my health has taken a turn so need to get my act together to get that under control. Likely no more time off till our UK/Europe trip that's scheduled for the month of August so I'll have to for sure savour the long weekends until then.

I was contacted Friday for a 3 year old full time care till they go to kindergarten in September. I certainly wasn't looking for more kids seeing as I'm closing my doors at the end of the year, but this could be just what my "problem" 3yr old needs to make the next 7 months bearable lol fingers crossed the interview goes well. I had an extensive telephone interview with grandma on Friday (legal guardian) and as it's an immediate start and would make such a significant difference in getting set for dropping to a one income household I am crossing everything.

So after this much time away, everyone came in like normal this morning. Couple of sharing issues but that was something we were working on prior to the break. Was hard to drag my ass out of bed though lolol

    Happy Mew Year folks!

    Sounds like a great holiday!!

I had 2 four day weekends and found those were hard enough to get up on Mondays! Lol....I'm soooo not a morning person!

I need to decide my summer holidays but have to wait and see when/if we get any campsites.

I'm stArting the new year without my handful and down one child mon/tues's and I'm totally okay with that!!! I'm looking forward to some downtime....this group is so good, makes my job incredibly easy now!! My handful is coming back once every 6 weeks, so we'll see how those days go!! Lol

Back to reality indeed! I had the week of Christmas off, opened for three days then closed for a 4 day weekend. It was great! But at the same time it was cold here and there was no snow for the kids to play in so we kinda got bored and ended up lazying around...so after all that chilling out I am ready to be back into a routine. Getting out of bed though...I'm never ready for that part! I'm also getting my sofas cleaned (they are so gross right now) and getting new foam mats for the daycare this week so I am kind of excited!

Good Luck with the handful. I had a good think over the break about my handful and if I wasn't finishing then I'd take the loss but I really need to figure out how to make this work. I think being away from him for an extended time has me forgetting what he is like though lol My daughter babysat him and his sister over the break and they were a dream, but that is a completely different environment and to be honest they usually are a handful so I think it was just a fluke. I actually think this guy is bored. I do a preschool program with him from lesson boxes I borrow from the resource library, but prior to December it has been really hard to do them as I was always shadowing or modifying behaviour. All going well, he will have a playmate of a similar stage of development and will make planned activities run smoother. One can hope anyway.

I have my Summer vacation booked already but I'm not sure whether I am going to finish then so don't want to give notice more than 1 month in advance, or if I'm going to enrol part time for my first semester just taking classes on Fridays which I don't currently work, and continue working till the end of the year. If the latter is my plan, then I would let parent's know now so they can arrange the 3 weeks cover but if I'm closing I don't want parents to up and leave early. That will result in my inability to tie things up financially and actually go to school. I am aiming to have firmed up my plans and have enrolled in classes by the end of this month but it's a dilemma I can't seem to decide on right now.

Back into a routine is something I am happy to do. I kept my kids on a pretty good bedtime routine, they are older but none the less there were only a couple of late nights but most of the time it was lights off between 10 & 10:30 and no technology after 8:30/9. Seems to have paid off as both kids have been in good spirits.

I have a 2nd job from home too and disconnected from that as well for the whole break but that's what I have to get back into a routine of doing now :-/ it's potentially going to go up in hours too and the only way it works is if I plan my time well and don't procrastinate. I love the aftermath of New Years initially too because my house is so clean from the decoration tear down.

They left to go to a different dc that will only charge them for days used (which I don't do!!) and I'm hoping that they don't ask to come back lol. He's a very sweet, happy (for the most part) child but he's exhausting....and not even 2 yet! He's coming back very very casually when I have room because mom didn't want to leave and she wants him to see his old friends. I assured her he will be fine lol. Eventually these days will end too as I want to fill it with a ft child once my other to child leaves (1-2 more years depending on ps tho) if they don't work out tho (too chaotic or like transitioning him every time) than I'll cut these days off too.

I hope/think a playmate will help your handful!! I'll cross my fingers for ya! I stink at committing to things so far ahead so I feel ya! I hope you make your decision soon and it all works out. Having parents leave early would suck
