Right foot, Wrong foot
Does anyone have any ideas about teaching the concept of shoes on the correct foot?
Dcb, newly 3yo, it seems the more we talk about it, the more I show him the shoes, this way and that way, the less he seems to understand. I have been hoping that with growing into the shoes, and they are a little more snug, they would "feel" wrong. But nope. When I ask, "Are your shoes on the right feet?" he will answer "yes" sometimes whether they are correct or not, and "no," sometimes whether they are correct or not. Like he's saying what he thinks I want to hear. Any thoughts?

Expansive...
I put a sticker on each side on the shoe on the outside of the shoe but on the inside. And say the stickers have to "kiss" to go on the right feet.

Starting to feel at home...
I usually line their boots up in the correct way and ask them to put them on. If they have it wrong, I tell to switch their boots, they are on wrong. They don't tend to notice, (but mine are all 2yrs old, so I wouldn't expect them to notice. You wld think at age 3 they would 'feel' wrong..). The stickers on the shoes are a good idea too, but cld get worn out fast. Another sticker idea is to cut a large sticker in half and place them on the toes or inside of the shoes. Ask they to match the sticker to complete the smiley face or whatever is on it. Would get worn out fast too but may just need to be replaced weekly or so.

The stickers are a good idea...I don't have much advice here. I have a 4yo dck in JK that constantly has her boots and shoes on the wrong foot, and has no idea whatsoever that they "feel wrong." I've tried explaining that the straps on her snow boots do up on the outside, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Might try the stickers though!

Well...I tried that too, the stickers. But I'm still not sure he understood. And they came off before he "got it."

I wonder if the parents have noticed, or if they are still doing it for him?

Definitely still doing it for him most of the time. I have talked with dcm about this, they notice it too, but it isn't like it's the end of the world or anything, having shoes on the wrong feet. Dcb is really good at doing things like getting dressed, he does zippers, and can put on and take off the paint t-shirt over his own shirt quicker than my 4 yos.
I tried the sticker thing, I used masking tape though. Started with arrows pointing together them with his name split in half.
