What r your plans after closing?

Not sure yet what I am going to do, but we got our daughters into the daycare center attached to their school, so the first step is complete!

The obvious choice for me would be to go back to teaching, but I don't know yet. I think my ideal would be to get a part time teaching position (which I have had before) and then supplement that with subbing or some other kind of work so that my outside of school hours work load isn't too crazy - I really want to have family time.

I am happy for you BrightSparks, but don't envy your 6 years of university - been there, done that! It was a long haul and I was soooo happy to graduate and be done with sitting listening to lectures and writing essays. So whatever I do likely will NOT envolve going back to school! Lol

LOL I am one of those crazy people who loves writing essays and research. I love to learn. I'm also going to a university campus with a very unique set up. My largest lecture in 1st and 2nd year would only be 300 people and in 3rd year I can expect to have less than 10 people in most of my major classes. I am happy enough, maybe foolishly and naively to be in school for 6 years from a learning perspective. I am however terrified at the financial aspect of things given that I have 2 teenagers who are by far more expensive than little kids and funnily enough, although not haha at all, my husbands new job position saw him lose some of his financial benefits today, effective Monday, so now it looks like I may be in this game a little bit longer and go part time on Fridays for the first semester or so, so I can save up some money for expenses...I do not qualify for any student loans or scholarships which is a frightening reality, nothing that I didn't already know, but sitting here thinking about it has me in a panic that's for sure. These are the kind of things I'm terrified of. Going to school, meeting new people and learning is long overdue for me.

I learned so much in university, including taking a class or two in psychology and sexuality, and really didn't mind the essay writing part - got pretty good at it by the end. I was a Education student with a History major so there was lots of research and essay writing! I took the big first years classes with lots of people, and the small specialized classes with a handful of people. But I was there for 6 years, just like you will be, and by the end I was so done with it all. It put me in a bad mood just having to sit in class participating in lectures (and I'm usually a pretty laid back and happy person)! lol!

Not to be a downer and say you shouldn't do it, just that my personal experience was that it was a pretty long haul. I qualified for student loans, but also had to work several part time jobs throughout the school year and full time every summer - so I never had a break and never got to do any fun spring break trips or anything during that time.

Yes, it is stressful when you financial situation changes all of a sudden. My husband got laid off from his job BOTH times that I was pregnant. I was unbelievable the second time it happened! But we persevered and it all worked out in the end.

But I truly hope your educational experience is positive and that in the end you have a career that you enjoy! Good luck!
