I agree with Suzie. She is not operating during summer, spring break or Christmas break therefore paid stats should not apply to those periods of time IMO.

Personally I would remain open Christmas and spring break. You would get paid for the stats and more than likely have minimal kids during that time, if any at all, and you would be paid full rate. Unless of corse there is a specific reason you need to close for those 2 breaks.

I think what some of us are saying though is that this is a completely different model for a home daycare (following the school calendar) and as such I think it should have a different set of "rules" when it comes to stats. I think it just "sits" better that she not charge at all if she isn't planning on being open at all. I think it's different for the rest of us who only take 2-3-4-5 etc weeks off per year. If I take a week off at Xmas I still charge for the stats. I find that taking the whole summer, plus March break plus two whole weeks at Xmas and then asking for stat pay during those times is petty. If you can allow yourself to take 10-12 weeks or whatever it is per year, how much are 2-3 stat days really gonna matter?

A few tips...

Always ensure that your child receives quality care by taking the time to investigate the provider and by asking for references! We simply cannot verify the claims of every daycare provider.
