ECE Week
Happy ECE Week everyone!!!
Take pride this week in knowing that you chose a profession that makes a difference in so many little people's lives! The many hats you wear, the long hours, the sometimes low pay, the hours spent cleaning/lesson planning/meal prep...it's all appreciated even if they're too little to tell you!!
Have a great week

In Quebec, the last week of May (this year 24th-30th) is Semaine des services de garde. (Childcare week) So, basically the same thing. The coordinating office (sort of like an agency, but not really) always tries to organize a get-together or outing for all of us, one day that week, with the kids and it sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Generally, the week passes without much fanfare. The centres have a budget for this kind of thing; the centre in town does a big barbeque on the weekend for the families, but we don't have a budget so it's a lot harder for us to organize anything. And of course, being that we're a mostly English community the ads and messages for this Childcare week don't reach us, so the parents don't know about it. I guess if I wanted the parents to know that this was the week they should appreciate me, I would tell them, but that's a bit too forward for me. So, I guess it's up to us to celebrate each other as ECEs.
Way to go, everybody! Keep up the good work.

Awe......one of dcm's had a card with payment today. It was a thank you card with a nice note from her and $20 to Dairy Queen. So thoughtful! Great way to end the week

I've been a bit spoiled this week. My hubby and kids bought me flowers on Monday, and then a fellow daycare provider surprised all her daycare friends with boxes of timbits on Tuesday. On Wednesday a mom showed up with a card, a bottle of wine, two big cute balloons and a plant. But her card didn't mention ece week, it said thank you for taking such good care of her son. So I dont know if it was a coincidence or not? Yesterday a mom showed up with a giant coffee from Tim Hortons and then emailed me a gift card to zulilly. Her and I both love zulily, so I was touched by how thoughtful all these presents were.

Awesome!!! It's nice to feel appreciated
I wonder if me posting that it was ECE week on the Facebook Childcare page helped create awareness in our city lol

Maybe! I never thought of that. The ones that knew about it are on that page. The two that didn't say anything aren't on it, as far as I know.

1 out 4 of my moms are on that page and the 1 is who brought me a gift so that's what made me wonder lol. Although, I've had parents in the past who knew about ECE week but I think they knew about it because their older children were in centres
