37.0C is normal. = 98.6F

34.8C is hypothermia = 94.7F

anything below 95F is considered hypothermia.

The low temp is obviously bogus. As for normal. The normal range is considered 36-38 because it differs for everyone, that is why I make a point of taking every child's temp so I can establish their norm for when they are ill. I found this out when I worked in the ER many years ago. Also I run low, so if I am 37 I have a low grade and 38, I am running a high fever. My norm is 35.8-36 on average. I can't take cold and flu meds because of this as it plummets my temp into the 34 range and I have to be rushed to hospital

Thanks, that's a good idea. And now that you mention it, I run a bit lower than 37C too. For daycare purposes, I consider 38C fever enough to send the child home.

We're actually regulated on this too. 10yrs ago, when I opened, the regulation said 37.5C, then a couple of years later, they upped it to 38C. As of last year, they put it up again so now the gov't considers 38.5 to be fever. I personally thinks that's a bit unfair to a lot of kids who run cooler and so the higher temp is reeally high.
