    So Confused?

    Hi everyone happy Friday!

I just called my local library, early years centre AND community centre to see if I was allowed to drop off flyers or business cards and they all said no unless it's for non-profit. What the heck ?

I thought we were allowed, so now where does one post up flyers lol

ps just called my local elementary school and they said no too because apparently it's in competition with them lol

I've heard some places say no because by posting the flyers it may seem like they are approving it as a 'good' daycare. Then if something goes wrong they may be in trouble. It just becomes easier for them to not have anything to do with it.

I posted at our local supermarkets. Most grocery stores have bulletin boards to post on. I also used local mailboxes and lampposts by parks and paths. And benches at parks.

Honestly, everyone's online. Try looking on FB for childcare groups in your area, and/or mom's swap & shop groups. Some will let you post daycare, some won't, but I find most of my clients through FB groups or kijiji. Also through word-of-mouth by taking daycare kids to playgroups. It becomes pretty obvious that you're a provider, parents start talking, and I've gotten a few that way too.

Thank you so much for your replies!

I started online and I actually filled all my spots (luck that's all it was) bc of facebook. I was going to advertise in the newspaper I just don't know if I should spend money on it? Any thoughts

I agree that everyone is online. Try posting on Kijiji, local moms pages on Facebook, here on Daycare Bear. Also, if you do pickup and drop-offs at the local school you can let the other parents/caregivers you know, that you are looking for more children.
Honestly, lately, I have had quite a bit of luck via facebook moms groups and old fashioned word of mouth.

Agree online is the only place my parents have been finding me other than word of mouth for at least a couple of years. I think it stems from having internet access on their phone and when you are up in the middle of the night feeding the baby surfing the web is something to do.

A few tips...

Always ensure that your child receives quality care by taking the time to investigate the provider and by asking for references! We simply cannot verify the claims of every daycare provider.
Updates
We expect providers to keep their listing and available openings up-to-date. However, to prevent oversights, openings expire after 45 days.
