Problem child takes things to the next level
Why can't I just have a pleasent last week of work....
My problem kid body checked another kid this morning when another parent was dropping off. I don't know why, my son saw him, but I wasn't there so spoke to this kid who was in full on denial, but we continued with the day. The other kid wasn't upset and at the end of the day I wasn't there to see it happen and handle it accordingly.
I went to the bathroom 15 minutes ago, and I hear clear as day this kid telling another kid, I quote "Joey beat Johnny up, Joey beat Johnny up" over and over.
Needless to say, I got back in that room in a flash and removed this child. I am absolutely mortified at this, not to mention, Joey and Johnny are only two and Joey being the parrot that he is was saying as a result over and over "Beat Johnny up, beat Johnny up." Problem kid is 4 on Sunday.
If I wasn't closing I would terminate, no questions asked. But what do I do in this situation? I close Wednesday next week. I don't want him here to be honest with all that is going on, and I feel simply awful for the other kids and their parents are not happy with the parroting as it is. I can only begin to imagine how angry they would be at todays dialogue.
I'm not a big texter with parents, but without thinking I text mom to let her know about the incident. I didn't want to leave it to the end of the day, and I didn't call because unless I'm requesting that he be picked up, I'm not sure what else I would have said.
I have just put a movie on to get the other kids out of the room and put the nearly 4 year old in a play pen with the door closed. He is screaming ouchie now which he always does when he is in trouble. He does it for mom at home too. He is quiet now, but I'm wondering what my next move is. I just can't trust him.
Should I tell this mother not to bring him back tomorrow due to the chronic issues? I'm also not in a position to refund her notice period fees, and nor do I think I should have to seeing as this is not my personal choice, but more a case of what is in the best interest of the group.
I'm not sure what to do to be honest. I already shadow him for physical issues, but they are generally rare enough that shadowing is short lived and he seems to make a conscious effort to behave himself and there is improvement....and then something comes up again.

That is what I'd like to do to be honest...what a way to end things!

He just spent 40 minutes in a playpen because there needed to be greater consequences than just time out and because he was being to disruptive. Blinds closed, lights off and door closed. He calmed down and had some time away from us and now he is back playing nicely. (((Sigh)))

Stick with the dark room alone in playpen for all incidents. I would also mention to mom that with only a week to go you are using this method of discipline but had you not been closing the daycare you would be terminating immediately since this is unacceptable and it is not safe for her child to be around other kids.
Good luck!
