I need help. My husband laughs because I have 3 degrees (ECE, child psyc and BEd) and I can't figure out my own 2yr old.

My husband was in the gift program growing up, he's an engineer and is quick to learn. My nearly 2.5yr old is very much following his footsteps. I obviously can't tell that she is gifted yet but she learns incredibly quickly (knew the alphabet upper and lowercase by age 2), knows her numerals 0-15 and can count well into the 20's with one-to-one correspondence and on and on. She fixates on a topic, soaks it all in, masters it then spits it out and is bored.

My problems are behavior. She is a great kid and ultimately she is disciplined. We can take her in public, can go for long meals in fancy restaurants etc. BUT she is, as they politely say, SPIRITED (aka a pain in the ass). She is at the extreme for energetic, determined, persistent, and on and on. Because she learns everything so quickly then gets bored I am constantly on my toes trying to keep up with her. It is ridiculous though I am a teacher and past daycare worker and I am running out of material and strategies to keep us going.

I remember reading on here that some caregivers have children of their own that were tested and gifted later in school and as toddlers thy were very 'difficult' and they were told this is expected with gifted children.

I am looking for resources, tips, anything. The older she gets (like by the day) the more determined and explosive emotionally she gets. I need resources to keep her tamed and help her grow to her potential without controlling the household.

Any suggestions??
