The new kid is now my "handful"

Why is it that as soon as I get "my handful" in good shape the new child that has started happens to be a handful. The new boy is so much work. He is a "toy taker" and a "pusher." He screams and does things that are just obnoxious e.g shoves shopping carts into other kids and pushes the table into other kid's stomach while they eat. I find I need to be on him all the time and it is exhausting. I'm 4 mos pregnant and just don't have the energy for him I find. He came to me from another provider who sold her house and shut down. The parents warned me that there had been an issue of him throwing things and biting but the biting had subsided. They also said that the previous provider had kind of "checked out" by the sounds of things towards the end. They said she was an older lady and her reports every day were that "they were all angels." I'm trying to make things more balanced at pick up but I find this really hard. I feel I have a bad habit of just off loading on the parents with challenging kids. Just kind of giving them a list of concerns from the day. Can't feel nice to pick your child up to that update. Not sure how to avoid this as I don't want them to be in the dark so they can support me. I think because I don't have coworkers the parents serve that function a bit which I am trying to avoid. How do you do this?

When I have to give a bad report I usually sandwich it with good pts. Dave had an ok day today he ate lunch well and napped well but unfortunately there's a few things that we need to work on. He tends to not share well and push toys onto the other children, does he do this at home too? He's a great listener when I tell him to stop or to share hell do it but I find I'm constantly on him all day to be gentle with his friends.

So give a nice, tell the bad add another nice. It usually goes over well for me.

I try to sandwich it all but I think I'm more focused on the bad...I'll work on "thickening up the bread," heh heh

He has also been coming with sore smelling clothes which isn't too pleasant. I think they are leaving the wet clothes for a bit before washing and the smell isn't coming out. Not sure if I should just see if this rectifies itself or address it. He had some shorts brought back as "clean clothes" that I had sent home as dirty. They hadn't been cleaned because there was a little poop on the waistband (very small amount) but that is why I sent them home so I noticed it.

The clothes he is wearing are clean. Just the ones "refolded" and placed in his bag aren't

I'm too nice...I'd likely throw them in For a quick short cycle. I make own laundry soap so it wouldn't cost me anything!

A few tips...

Always ensure that your child receives quality care by taking the time to investigate the provider and by asking for references! We simply cannot verify the claims of every daycare provider.
Updates
We expect providers to keep their listing and available openings up-to-date. However, to prevent oversights, openings expire after 45 days.
