    Interviews

I have been opened for a month now. I am getting interviews but the parents say they promise they will get back to me if they will or will not bring their child to my daycare but I never here from them again. I give them a week or two and just say Next. Does anybody else have the same problems with their interviews?

I'm sure most providers have experienced that.

What I do is say something along the lines of "I am conducting interviews all week and will be making a decision by whatever date. Let me know before that date if you would like to be considered for the spot." I do this whether or not I am actually interviewing anyone else!

I usually know right away if I am interested in them or not but never let them know. I consider a spot available until I have a signed contract and money in my hand.

I do same. I ask parent to bring child to interview to save needing second meeting. And parent told that no place held until contract and deposit. Then I keep interviewing until I have contract and deposit and ad stay up.

Like looking for job. Keep applying and interviewing until firm offer.

I do as the other posters as well. It is a shame people treat others this way! Just like job seekers who don't hear back after going for an interview. This is called ghosting and it is rude. It takes only a moment to email or phone a provider to say thank you for the visit, but they are continuing their search. The good news is you don't want someone that is inconsiderate as a client, so no loss. Good luck in your search.

I agree that it's not very polite of them not to even let you know they have chosen anger provider. My advice is to send a quick thank you Email the next day, telling them it was great to meet them etc. then follow up with an email or call, about a week after you meet them, asking if they are interested or of they've chosen another Dayhome. If they say they've chosen another Dayhome, you can politely ask for any constructive criticism they may have, let them know you'd appreciate feedback so you can use it to become a better provider.

The beginning is always the slowest. Once you get a family signed on it should be a little quicker
