I do all my own taxes. My mom made sure that I knew how to do taxes when I was 18 and starting working. She always did theirs with the farm and everything and she still does them now. I use Turbo Tax too. But you don't need to spend the $100 for the Business one, just the standard will do, they have all the same forms. I made the mistake od buying the basic this year but had to upgrade 1 step.

If you have never done your taxes before and don't understand the basic principles of how it is all calculated, it might just be too much to try and do it yourself. But if you have someone who understands it and can help you through, that might help. If you are seriously thinking of doing it yourself, buy the turbox tax software now, it will be for 2014, but whatever, familiarize yourself with it. You won't know until you try it!

$500 is not crazy in the GTA. I have a very good friend of mine who does my taxes and books at the end of the year, and he's awesome. Would recommend to anybody.

Leave the professionals to do your work... Doctors, Lawyers, Accountants, Plumbers, Electricians etc.

They know what they are doing!

I wouldn't go do electrical work if I know how, nor would I go my taxes just because I think I'm smart enough. Sure you might be able to write all the receipts in a book, but I'm sure a professional would tell you what you can deduct and what you can't.

I remember talking to a friend of mine who told me their business has a GST account so I need to have one too.. oh boy, was I wrong when my Accountant told me otherwise.

A few tips...

If you visited or if you're using a childcare provider found on DaycareBear, do not hesitate to leave a review. This will most certainly help other parents!
