I have been giving discounts when I close for a half day as I hear it from one family if they are even one hour short (will be terming soon as we've had so many issues!).
I think with enough notice no refund needs be given if it's an hour or two.
With my new contracts I will be building sick days into my agreements too. I'm my own boss - time to enjoy it.
