    Do you charge 1/2 days

Hi wanted to know what you all charge for 1/2 days. I watch a little boy 3 times a week (10 hrs a day at $40.00 per day) and sometimes the mom will ask if I can watch him a few hours (4-5 hrs) on my day off.

What do you all do? Is it fair to charge her full price you think?

The biggest expense of my day is lunch, so if the child is eating lunch with me I charge for a full day.

Something to consider is that while it is only half of your day off...your whole day is essentially gone if you watch him for 4-5hrs. Depending on the hours needed you can't really do much before or after.

Also be mindful that 4-5hrs can slowly creep longer if allowed.

My thoughts exactly Lee-Bee. My day is shot when I have to do half day.

And, also consider, if it's supposed to be your day off, then you don't have the other kids there too. So you'll have to entertain just one kid, which for me, personally, is a much harder and longer day than having a whole group.

I permit half days on a casual basis if I have space. I charge $5/h for those. I avoid watching kids in my days off, because it's not worth $20 to tie up my day, unless I planned to be home and it's a child my girls get along with well.

In this area, anything over 4 hours is charged full day. Anything under is charged half day but that more than 50% of daily rate. Avg price here is $35 full day, $20 half day.

That said, it your day off!!! My fees on business day based on group care rate where 6 parent paying to make combined income. If I agree work my day off, I charge hourly.
$10.00 an hour on day off. I would not give discount for working for one person on day off.
