    Biting in daycare.

Hello again, I would like to know how you would handle this situation.
I have a 17 month old that has bitten the same boy twice. Mom and dad was ok and understanding the first time. Today she bit him the second time and according to mom, dad was mad and said it better not happen again. I can understand his son is the victim and it's been twice, but she is a baby that is teething, putting everything in her mouth and doesn't understand she that this behaviour is wrong. Her mom apologized to mom the first time and is very frustrated at her daughter, that she wants to remove her. I have sent out a notice to all parents and all seem to understand and accept this, but him. I don't want mom to remove her because I know it's a phase and shall pass and I don't think he is being fair.

Which mom wants to remove which child? The child being bitten or the one doing the biting?

I have a dcg that is 21 months and has been doing the same thing. She has been teething for quite awhile and is biting children not out of anger but because of teething. Every parent of the children I look after are more than understanding. They know it's a phase because of her age. I'm very lucky to have such understanding parents. I do give the biter a time out ( one minute) and tell her "no biting, biting hurts." It's happening less now that's she's getting older and getting a time out each time there is an incident. I hope that your parent doesn't remove her child. Won't help the situation for her as she will have to find a replacement and still deal with the biting issue. Too bad the dad isn't so understanding. Hang in there.

it is hard when we have a biter so you may have to follow her around like a shadow so she gets out of the habit of biting her friends or this child and have a biting toy handy if she needs to it.
yes, hang in there as it will get better !

A few tips...

Always ensure that your child receives quality care by taking the time to investigate the provider and by asking for references! We simply cannot verify the claims of every daycare provider.
Updates
We expect providers to keep their listing and available openings up-to-date. However, to prevent oversights, openings expire after 45 days.
