Wiping bottoms

At what age do you require kids to be independent with bum wiping after a bm?
I have several over the age of 3 training now(boys) that I can't stand and watch for the 15 mins it takes to train, as I have the "under 2's" to supervise. I will help them on toilet, and they pull pants up/down/wash hands alone etc. but I can't stay in the bathroom for 15 mins to wipe bums all the time. When I worked in the centre, we stopped helping at age 3.
I find there is poo on seat/floor/walls/hands, as I have one who has liquid poops, but I can't stay there for the 15 mins it takes. Any suggestions??

I have tought mine to shout me when they have finished, then I go in and help them to wipe. I usually get them to wipe themselves when I think they are able and then check them with one wipe of my own. Once my wipe is not needed they no longer have to shout me when they are finished. 😌Works well here

I find it's pretty hard to say that at a certain age a child is required to be independent, as it really depends on when they start potty training and become consistent with it. I currently have a two year old in my care who is completely independent whereas I'm still having to check and sometimes assist my 4 year old. They are just completely different kids who became ready at different times. But either way, except for in the very beginning, I too never stay with them the whole time. I might check in on them to make sure everything is ok. But otherwise I instruct them to call me once done to either help them wipe up or to inspect them. I guess I've been pretty lucky in that I've never had to deal with poop everywhere.

I agree with the above 2 ladies. I don't put age restrictions on anything really. It's all about a child's capabilities. They all learn differently and at different times.

I teach how to wipe during the toilet training process and once I see they know how to do it properly, I quit. Even during toilet training I don't stay in the bathroom though. Once they're older, they call if they need help (sick or a "dirty" poop lol)
