    Winter outside ideas?

What is everyone doing outside with the kids these days? We have some snow. Not enough to do much with, but enough to not do what we usually do. I don't like this in between stage!

I always pack down paths through our backyard for the kids to run. When the snow is deep enough they can hide in the packed down fort areas etc. We don't really have enough snow for that yet. But there is too much snow to push all the trucks/cars around (both the riding cars and the toy cars get stuck in the snow). I've closed the play structure as it is slippery and the ground if frozen.

I am blank for ideas what to do, child led, with kids almost 2 to almost 4yrs old. Ideas for things I can bring out to play with (with mitten hands)?

We have no snow here yet but areas around us do. So I decided to store all the summer toys (ride ins, cars, scooters, etc) in the back of the shed and I got the shovels and snowshoes ready and in the front.

Our outside large deck box holds all the balls, big and small and they can still use those, the playhouse, the basketball net and the play structure. There's also a box of wood pieces and logs they can play with. I have 2 or 3 trucks that they shovel snow with as well that will be left out. For awhile, it will just be this and their imagination!! They know how to play tag, hide and seek, outdoor yoga, gymnastics, jumping over each other and a few other games that they play but I don't get the "rules" LOL

We also go for walks when it's this stage. It's a good way to kill an hour

Bowling outside, hopscotch on driveway (or use water colour or paint) to mark the grass/snow, big bubble sticks, paint the ground?

Before there's enough snow to play in, we go for long walks on the nature trails and around the neighbourhood. We use our driveway as our play space once the snow comes. We have a pop-up tent, some IKEA rockers, Tonka trucks, etc., and they can climb on the snowbanks beside the driveway.

I keep a ride in car and playhouse (with plastic food) on my deck, and shovel off snow. In the yard, they are still using the toddler slide/climber, climbing a low tree, digging in gravel, playing tag or games with balls and feeding the chickens. When snow arrives, they still do all their running/ball games, and we still do the chicken chores. We do spend less time outside, and add in more crafts/baking over the winter.

A few tips...

Always ensure that your child receives quality care by taking the time to investigate the provider and by asking for references! We simply cannot verify the claims of every daycare provider.
Updates
We expect providers to keep their listing and available openings up-to-date. However, to prevent oversights, openings expire after 45 days.
