If the spot is open now and could be filled immediate, but she doesnt want to start until September, then in that case i charge 60% of my monthly fees, and the parent can send the child once a week for half day.
If the spot is not available immediately, then I get my usual 2 week deposit, a money order for the last months care, and my 50.00 start up fee.
The only catch is that as others have stated by taking a deposit, the are by law entitled to the "service " for that fee.

If someone accepts a "deposit" but the person wants the spot ...say....2 weeks after the spot became available....can this "deposit' not be used for the empty 2 weeks.....and they forfeit it...or should this "DEPOSIT" be something else in this case

In my contract, a deposit goes towards fees, a holding fee pays for an open spot that the parent wants but isn't using yet.

A few tips...

Always ensure that your child receives quality care by taking the time to investigate the provider and by asking for references! We simply cannot verify the claims of every daycare provider.
