Marni Flaherty is CEO of Today's Family (agency) and head of HCCAO (pro-agency lobbyists). She is way up there in her sector, as is Martha Friendly (childcare activist) who is decidedly anti-ICP. This is absolutely bullying in at its purest all dressed up as 'what's best for children'. The image they continue to perpetuate is that we don't want licensing, shirk oversight, avoid following rules and offer substandard care. CICPO is making a concerted effort to change the image that has been painted for the public of our sector by the lobbyists. THIS is why I keep posting in here. This affects all of us, in Ontario, who want to continue to develop our careers, serve our families and understand that a new licensing model is of paramount importance. If we don't hit this hard, now, our sector has the very real potential of being wiped out. We are starting to gain momentum again, so I hope that all ICPs will get on board and drive this effort forward. We need all your clients on board too! And when you have to turn someone looking for childcare away (I know we're all turning them away in droves), try to involve them as well. We'll have our parent and ICP letter templates ready to send out this week (fingers crossed) which can be distributed to your families to fill in and send out to the Education Critic and MPPs (email addresses will be provided). Gila Martow (Education Critic) has said that parents' voices in this is crucial! Please don't hesitate to ask how you can get involved. There is no hyperbole here. We are at a critical point, with some great opportunities available to us!
