Provider's reply:
"First I want to say that I felt terrible that I had no choice to do this to this family. As difficult as it was to receive this news it was as difficult for me to deliver it. My decision was based on safety. As Dave's son was under 1 year old and not walking. I felt it was not safe to have his child on the floor with 7 other active boys and only 1 staff member monitoring all of them. My staff member unexpectedly gave notice and on this same day I called Dave's family to give them as much notice as possible. I would like to clarify that I do not have ongoing staff issues. As Dave's wife was not going back to work for another 3 weeks they had time to look for another childcare. In fact on this same day they had a call from another childcare confirming if they still wanted a spot that was available to them. It was not an easy decision as I had spent many hours with Dave's son and his wife. I formed a relationship with both of them on the visits that lead up to his sons first official day. It saddens me to be called unprofessional and disrespectful. This decision was made for all the families involved in my childcare. Imagine if I did take on your son Dave and your son got hurt or any of the other children in childcare got hurt because I was not keeping all the children safe."
