+0 Childcare provider: Nikki

I obtained services from this family / home daycare, dayhome and I find that:

"I briefly registered my child in this home daycare after speaking with the care provider in person. She seemed quite nice and was made cognizant of the fact my 2 year old had never been to any kind of daycare before and was quite nervous and actively suffering from separation anxiety.

The provider assured me she would not have a problem working with my daughter and helping her to adjust to the process.

On my daughter’s second day in the providers care it came to my attention from a fellow parent in the program that Nikki had left the children unattended at the home while running out to do an errand (to purchase glue sticks for arts and crafts.)

The provider was “caught red handed” for lack of a better terminology and vehemently denied leaving the children alone, claiming there was a neighbour watching them.

It became apparent quite quickly this was not the case. Her 13 year old son who was home on a PD day had been left in charge instead.

FACs was promptly involved and my child never attended the program again.

While the issue was a hot debate on if the fictitious neighbour did or or did not watch the children, one thing remains clear... I paid Nikki in advance and had both verbal and written understanding that SHE and she alone would be watching my child, at no time was I informed that someone else would be stepping in, let alone a neighbour or her underage son?! It caused my daughter and myself undue stress and shook my confidence in home daycares.

Think twice before using this particular provider."
