Childcare provider: Helen

I obtained services from this family / home daycare, dayhome and I find that:

"My child attended this daycare for several months. Everyday my child would cry when we got near Helen's home. At drop off, I would have to wait several minutes before the door was opened. At the time, she was caring for one other child. I would never see this other child at drop off and I would rarely see the child at pick up. Helen would comment that the child is sleeping. I was very suspicious of this. Helen would also take several minutes at pick-up before she answered the door. I often times felt the urge to just walk in and see what is happening in there. It in my honest opinion/suspicion that she keeps the children in the cribs all afternoon and possibly most of the morning. Helen is not a good daycare provider. she is more like a babysitter. She did not teach my child anything while in her care. her daycare space is non existant. its simply a home with a small basket of toys in the living room. I never really got any real updates of my child. she was never honest about my childs behaviours (good days or bad). trying to get information on how the day went, what was done and what was eaten was impossile. My child would get diaper rashes weekly. she would blame it on teething.. this was not the case. she would have my child sitting in a dirty diaper for too long. Helen also has guests staying in her basement from time to time and never advised me. It came out of her mouth one day when I mentioned a car that has been parked infront of her house for several days. I am sorry, but I feel I should have the right to know who is around my child. This experience with her has really traumatized my family. I have so many unanswered questions for Helen. We now use a daycare centre as there are more people around to see what is going on and care for my child."
