"Shelly's home daycare is a great home daycare with a family friendly environment. Our daughter thrived while in Mimi's care. We waited over a year before a space opened up, and it was well worth the wait.

Mimi is a skilled early childhood educator and a loving care provider. She is always supportive of having open dialogue with parents and she truly loves what she does. Mimi is very organized and is administratively strong. There are a lot of different educational activities that are done at Shelly's daycare that young children really pick up on. Mimi recognizes each child's strengths and areas of growth and modifies activities accordingly.

Shelly's home daycare is a fun, educational and caring environment. It was nice that there was a healthy balance of care and order. The schedules and routines that children thrive on were part of every day and our daughter flourished with balance of structure and free play. Mimi really looked out for each child's best interests and fostered supportive strategies for positive socialization. Mimi's inclusive approach meant that every child was part of the group and encouraged to be independent. Shelly's home daycare is a great home daycare!"

"My son is almost 2yrs old, he has been attending “Shelly’s Daycare” since he was 15 months old.

I was very nervous about sending my son to daycare and feeling really overwhelmed by the whole process. However fortunately for me my nephew had attended Shelly’s Daycare so I knew it would be a perfect fit for my son as my brother & sister in law had rave reviews on the care provided there.

From the moment we meet with Michelle & Bev we just felt such a relief. It is clear they love what they do and they genuinely care for the children’s overall wellbeing. My son is an only child and he is very nervous being away from his Mom and Dad, so of course I worried about him adjusting to daycare however Michelle & Bev worked with us to ensure we approached this issue as a team. They shared pictures of the daycare, toys and even pictures of our son playing with the toys at the daycare – we used these as tools to excite our little one by reminding him how much fun he has there. Soon he was happily settling into his new daycare routine.

I want to mention that I love how structured the daycare is, they guide towards learning as well as play. Michelle has periods for free play as well as reading, arts and crafts, singing, dancing, pretend play. She also has little parties to celebrate children’s milestones (ex. birthdays) which is very thoughtful and sweet of her, I feel this goes above and beyond what daycares would normally do. As a working Mother I can’t tell you how much I look forward to the pictures Michelle will sometimes share of my little one engaged in fun activities – it always lifts my spirits and reassures me that he is doing well. Michelle genuinely cares about the children – she always reaches out when our little guy is sick or away from daycare.

I am very grateful to have my son in Michelle & Bev’s care, they are absolutely wonderful. Even now, years later, my nephew still fondly talks about “mimi” and “mimi’s momma” and how much fun he had there & I’m sure my son also will have some great stories to share when he reflects back on his time at daycare."

"Michelle provides a loving, warm and educational environment for the children in her care. My son has been with Mimi (as the children affectionately call her) for over a year. He loves it there so much he often asks to go on the weekend! It is so comforting to know I am dropping my child off where he will be at a home away from home. I have 100% trust and confidence in Michelle to provide the absolute best care. Highly recommend!"

"We were lucky ( yes LUCKY ) enough to find Michelle when our first daughter was 11 months old. She had been in another home day care since age four months. The other daycare was good until I had a disagreement with the provider that declared it was more important for girls to learn to clean so they can make their husbands happy. Needless to say I started looking for another.

Once I met Michelle though I realized just how amazing a daycare experience can actually be. Michelle and her family are an extended family for our daughter. I see genuine joy in her eyes when I drop her off ( never cries for mommy unlike the other daycare at drop off ) and often tries to march back into their house at pickup. On weekend mornings she toddles over to the front door and stands at it asking "Mimi?" In the cutest little voice ever and it breaks my heart when I tell her not today and she looks disappointed. (Kids are supposed to be happy to spend time with mommy and daddy right?!? :) )

She has been going there for a year now and will soon be joined by her five month old sister.

I would rather pay Michelle than go to free daycare. My husband gets a work benefit where we get days of FREE daycare at one of the big daycares - we used some of the FREE days while I was on mat leave and I would rather pay Michelle than use the Free days at the other place ( which is $160/day and extremely highly regarded).

Michelle truly sees the kids in her care like an extension of her family. She wants nothing but the best for them. She is organized. Pick up and drop off can be very easy and quick - but also will have a quick friendly chat.

She graciously dealt with my constantly absent pregnant brain. ( including forgetting to pick up our daughter!!!) Insisted helping me lift our daughter, take her to my car, do the bending etc. Just an example of how naturally thoughtful she is. And she is the only person I know that can get our daughter to read a book with her. I try touching a book and it is a screaming stomping mass of a disaster. ( our best case scenario- she 'reads' books on her side of the room and I read mine out loud on the other side )

If our daughter is ever absent ( ill/ vacation) she will check up to see how she is doing (true interest in child's wellbeing). Mimi will also send pictures of something new or cute she happens to capture her doing. She responds to texts ( but not always right away because of course she is busy with kids!!) and always answers her phone.

She had rules for her daycare and expects everyone to follow them. Nothing unreasonable. And it keeps all the families happy and balanced, making sure everyone gets a little personalized touch without sacrificing the good of the group.

Michelle and her family are wonderful and we are lucky to have them help raise our two daughters. Do not look further. This is the daycare you have been looking for.

I am trying to provide a balanced review and provide negatives....um.....we didn't find her sooner!"

"My son has been in Michelle's care since he was 17 months old. My daughter also attends when her school has PA days and over the summers. My son is now almost ready to leave for kindergarten. I couldn't be more pleased with Michelle, her level of care for my kids, and her delightful family. We don't just consider her a daycare provider, she is also family! My son has learned so much because Michelle provides activities and age-appropriate education that not only teaches kids along the way, it prepares them for entering school. Any child will be loved as if they were her own child at Shelly's daycare."

"Our daughter has attended Shelly’s Daycare since her first birthday and we were delighted with the loving and consistent care our daughter has received. Michelle or “Mimi” the children call her, is exceptional and really engages with each child. The facilities and activities are amazing - better than we could do at our own home, the daycare is very clean, organized and her family is very friendly and attentive. I would have no hesitation in recommending this daycare to anyone. If you have to work and be away from your child, Shelly’s daycare is as good as family. Michelle is incredibly reliable and trustworthy. She's communicative with updates and occasional photos of their activities. She has been understanding and flexible with schedules, and the children eat a balanced diet. If your child gets the chance to attend this daycare, it will be - I'm sure - one of the most positive experiences for them."

"Our 3 year old son has been with Michelle for over 2 years. With our first child, we were very fortunate that we had the opportunity to have a family member take care of him however with our second, it was our first real experience trying to find a suitable daycare when I returned to work in September of 2013. In the months leading up to my return, we were grateful that a neighbor of ours brought to our attention Michelle’s name. She advised me that if I wanted one of the greatest daycares in the GTA, I would have to look no farther than Michelle. I am so happy to say 2 years later, she was absolutely right!

Michelle, or as all the children affectionately call her “Mimi”, is patient, caring, approachable, and what I admire mostly about her is that she loves my child just like her own. I really can’t explain how wonderful the feeling is while in the middle of my workday, I will receive pictures from Michelle of my child playing and having fun. Her organizational skills are second to none including her informative newsletters where she updates parents of all the latest news, as well as the beautiful arts and crafts my child has done that I will cherish for years to come. She is constantly planning special events and always makes the kids birthdays so special! Even when my child is sick and cannot attend daycare, rest assured you will hear from my Michelle making sure you give them extra hugs and kisses to make them feel better.

Few would disagree that as a parent, there is no better feeling than having peace of mind when you leave your child each and every day in the care of someone who genuinely loves and cares for them. My entire family is forever grateful that we found Michelle and would not hesitate a second to a recommend her to another family looking for a daycare provider."

"Michelle is a very happy and energetic caregiver who loves interacting with children. She is a hardworking and dedicated individual. Our child is learning and having fun with stories and songs as well as developing wonderful relationships with the other children in Michelle’s care.

Michelle always schedule in fun times like Pyjama Day and Halloween and Christmas parties and she celebrates all the children’s birthday. On hot days the kids would have little pool parties and go for walks to get ice- cream cones. If a child is absent, she will call home to express her concerns and get well wishes. The kindness and patience which Michelle shows to all of the children she cares for is outstanding. I am at ease that our child is safe and happy in a loving and caring family-centered environment.

I would definitely recommend Michelle as a child care provider for any other family in need of day care services. With her background experience and strong abilities to connect with children, she would definitely offer everything a family would be looking for in a provider."

"My then 19-month-old son was enrolled into Michelle's care on December 1, 2008 and I now have my almost 3-year-old daughter with Michelle now, at this very moment, as I type this review. I wouldn't have it any other way. For anyone who would prefer to have their children cared for by family...Michelle is the next best thing. I have said over and over to friends of mine who have have negative experiences with their childcare provider that in my childcare arrangement with Michelle comes with a bonus. You see, you can "pay" anyone to look after your child...but money does not buy you love. Michelle absolutely loves my children...all of the children...and it is that bonus, along with her many other beautiful characteristics, that has me counting my blessings every day. My husband and I can go to work every day to focus on work and know that our child is safe, happy and loved. Michelle is kind, approachable and fair. We consider her an asset and valued member of the "circle of care" for our children. When our childcare needs come to an end...I hope to continue a friendship for many years to come.
