"My son was under Shirley's care from 2 years old till his start of Jr. Kindergarten. We loved the clean and welcoming space and didn't hesitate to choose her.

She is treats the kids as her own and is always looking out for their best interests. She is fair and accommodating for special circumstances. Shirley provides structure and guidance and even helped with potty training.

We miss her and my son still asks to go to Shirley's some morning instead of school."

"My son has been attending this daycare for just over a year. My family is extremely happy with the care that Shirley provides and we would recommend her to anyone. We consider Shirley and her family a part of our family. Shirley is a wonderful, open person, an excellent communicator, and has been very flexible with our needs.

My son is thriving. He surprises us every day with all the new things he has learned at daycare, and he is always excited to share what he did that day. He loves Shirley and we are so relieved that he is well taken care of in a safe, loving environment.

We are so lucky to have found Shirley! If you are looking for a daycare, we 100% recommend HuggieBears, your kids will be in great hands!"

"We started sending our daughter to Shirley when she was 11 months old, and then when our family grew, sent our second daughter along too. Shirley does an amazing job with the children and her house is full of love for the kids. We appreciated the attention Shirley gave to our girls and her keeping the kids organized and in line with structure. Both girls loved “Shirley days” and were happy to be dropped off to spend the day with friends. We moved from the area and Shirley and her family will always hold a special place in our hearts."

"For the past 3 years My children have been with Shirley at HuggieBears Private Home DayCare.
In just a few weeks my youngest is off to JK and we will no longer be with Shirley. It will be a sad day in our household as going to Shirley’s has become a happy part of our daily routine and when the weekend comes they ask when do we go back to Shirley’s.
It gives me as a mom such relief to know that my children are in a safe and loving environment in which she provides guidance, structure and promotes independence.
Shirley also provides Healthy meals and snacks and to my surprise my kids will eat food at Shirley that they won’t usually eat at home.
I have full trust in Shirley and I know my Kids and I will be forever grateful for everything she has done for our family.
My kids are better for knowing Shirley and her family."

"I found Shirley through this website and we couldn’t be happier! Shirley creates a fun, routine-oriented and educational environment. My daughter loves going to Shirley everyday and even on weekends asks if she can go. She is flexible and provides healthy meals that my daughter actually eats (unlike at home). I was anxious sending my first child to daycare, but after meeting Shirley and seeing how much my daughter loves going everyday I would recommend her to anyone."

"Before choosing Shirley, I visited a number of daycare centres and home daycares. We were impressed with the clean, organized and well structured environment she provided. More importantly, Shirley herself made a great impression with her warm and loving nature. We like that she provides firm expectations for good manners and behaviour which align with our values at home. Our daughter sees Shirley as an extended member of our family, telling us that she loves Shirley. She has a big smile on her face when we drop her off and pick her up because she enjoys going to daycare. Shirley is very flexible in accommodating parents' schedules and provides daily feedback. We are looking forward to our son receiving the same excellent care experience when I return back to work after my maternity leave. We feel so fortunate to have found Shirley and would highly recommend her."

"As a fairly new mom it was hard to imagine leaving my my children with someone I didn't know but from our first phone call to meeting Shirley I had an awesome feeling. She provides a positive, loving, safe, educational environment.
She greets them at the door with a huge smile and sends them off for the day with a big hug.
My kids love Shirley like she is a part of our family and she truly is, it shows in the way she cares for them. They come home and are excited to tell me all about their day and what they did.
Shirley will email or text pictures of their activities and it always puts a smile on my face and I get to have a worry free day knowing they are in her care.
Without a doubt HuggieBears Private Home DayCare is the best.
I would highly recommend Shirley.
I know I will always be forever grateful to Shirley for all the love she has shown my children."

"I don't think there are enough words I could use to fully explain how much we love and cherish Shirley. She cared for our Daughter, from the age of 1 year until recently (she has just started JK). Shirley also cares for our 2 year old Son (and has been since before his 1st birthday).

We owe so much to Shirley and couldn't imagine our lives without her! She has taken great care of our children and have always made them feel loved and well looked after. Shirley was always quick to give us updates and sometimes send along pictures during the day. I remember when my Daughter first started taking her first steps, Shirley sent me a video of her starting to walk independently.

To say that we lucked out finding Shirley would be an understatement. We have been so incredibly fortunate to have found her! Shirley always goes above and beyond for our kids. We couldn’t be happier! She is always so accommodating and flexible with our schedules and is always on top of what is happening with the kids and with us; you never have to tell her anything twice.

I hold Shirley in the highest regard; she always thinks about our kids and I know she truly loves them. She is a genuine, honest and a truly lovely human being! Should you decide to have Shirley care for your child(ren), you will not regret it."

"My daughter has been in Shirley’s care since she was one and is currently in JK. It is bittersweet we no longer require services from HuggieBears Private Home DayCare as we’ve established a relationship that exceeds her child care provider role because clearly Shirley has become part of the family.

Shirley most definitely stood out and left a great first impression as I’ve conducted phone interviews with many child care providers and visited many child care centres around the neighbourhood and close to downtown. The decision to select HuggieBears was not at all difficult.

Due to the diversity of work schedules, Shirley does her best to accommodate parents that has various working hours. Shirley establishes a daily routine that provides structure which brings a sense of predictability, security & safety to the children in her care. In addition to routines, all children are taught mannerism, sharing & dressing themselves, when appropriate. Shirley helped wean my daughter off diapers and has fair disciplinary actions to children that misbehave.

Shirley serves home cooked meals, provides verbal reports and feedback all the time. If my daughter was not well, she’ll text or email updates while I’m at work so I won’t have to worry.

My daughter enjoyed daycare and playing with her mates. She’ll bring festive art work home and would periodically reflect the progress and fun she’s had while working on it at HuggieBears.

On a separate and personal note, we experienced water damage during the ice storm in 2014 but Shirley unselfishly received our daughter the night of the event so we could take care of the cleanup. The generosity and compassion is genuine and I have nothing but kind words for her.

If I was to go through a search and selection of a daycare again, I would choose Shirley in a heartbeat."

"Shirley was the first person I interviewed for child care and I'm happy to say I was lucky on the first try. My son started with her at 14 months old in January and he has learned so much since he started. I like that Shirley is no nonsense, yet kind and warm with the children. She treats them like they're her own kids and she takes her job seriously as someone who is essentially helping to raise my child. She is very well-organized and gives me detailed feedback about what my son did each day. She is flexible and accommodating, and my mind is completely at ease when my son is with her. I've told my husband that we're not moving until my son starts kindergarten, so that Shirley can look after him until then, which says a lot!"

"My daughter has been attending Huggie Bears since the beginning of 2014 when she had recently turned 1. She is now 21 months old and has blossomed into a fun, bright and sweet little girl while in Shirley's care. When I first started taking her to Huggie Bears I was of course nervous but seeing my daughter want to go to daycare every day put my mind at ease. She is happy when I drop her off and happy when I pick her up. I love that she is in a home environment and that Shirley treats the kids like they are her own with hugs and kisses at the end of the day. Shirley is fantastic at teaching the kids good manners - they quickly learn their 'please's and 'thank you's and learn to be respectful of their daycare friends (sharing) and their environment (cleaning up their toys). The kids get to enjoy time outside every day (weather permitting) and have fun with various indoor activities as well as free play time. Shirley sticks to her schedule which really helped my daughter adjust to the daycare routine when she first started attending Huggie Bears. I am so pleased to have found Shirley to take care of my daughter! The best part of Huggie Bears daycare is knowing how much Shirley truly cares for my daughter. If I can't be with her during the day I know she is in great hands with someone who is showing her love and guiding her along as she grows."

"My son was in Shirley's care from 10 months old until 1 yr, the only reason for our short stay is because my son needed major surgery and recovery time is 6 months -a year. Once it is time for me to return to work, and my son has fully healed, I do plan on having him attend Shirley's daycare again. She provides a warm and loving environment that all the kids enjoy. She does daily activities that prepares the older kids for school, and provides consistent routines for everyone. She was truly a remarkable find in the daycare world when not many other people are even willing to meet with you or even return your calls."

"My 2.5 yr old son has been attending Huggie Bears Home Daycare since he was 1 year old. Shirley is an amazing childcare provider for numerous reasons. Her home is exceptionally clean and always tidy any time of day. Parents are always able to get in touch with her during the day to check in on their children. She is patient and loving, my son took to her immeadiately and ran into her arms within minutes of meeting her. Being a part of
Huggie Bears Daycare has taught my son social skills, counting and reading skills, weather, colors and shapes, the importance of sharing and taking turns, respect for others and my personal favourite - clean up time! I always am told how advanced my son is for his age and I attribute most of this to Shirley and her daycare. I would recommend this daycare to any parents looking for a safe, positive and loving environment for their kids and peace of mind for themselves."
