Silly Goose Home Daycare has one full time space available for a child of or over 24 months in April.
This cozy and child-friendly home has a large dedicated playroom for indoor play and enjoys a large enclosed front yard for outdoor play. I am across the street from the local playground and Sawmill Creek Community Centre where we attend a cooperative playgroup two mornings a week during the school year. There the children enjoy social and learning activities with new and old friends and are guaranteed enjoyable outings even in the worst winter weather. Healthy, home made hot lunches are prepared with fresh ingredients each day and snacks include a variety of dairy, fresh fruits and veggies. We enjoy outdoor play during winter months when weather permits and spend most of our spring, summer and fall days outside. Our outdoor activities include visits to the many parks in the area, nature walks, duck pond visits, picnics and summer-time water play. I follow an established daily routine that includes excitement but also the predictability little ones need for security. As children are now entering full day kindergarten at the tender age of four my main focus is on the development of social skills, integrated play, empathy and natural consequences. The development of communication, language, literacy and gross and fine motor skills are naturally focused on as well through child led play, learnable moments, songs, stories and crafts. I have 31 years of experience with children. I made a career change and established Silly Goose 17 years ago because I love working with children and enjoy assisting them in their physical, intellectual and emotional growth. I am a member of the Child Care Providers Resource Network, founder of the Southgate Community Playgroup and Co-Founder of the Coalition of Independent Childcare Providers of Ontario (CICPO), a provincial organization that advocates, on behalf of Ontario families and independent providers, for safe, accessible and affordable childcare.
I am first aid certified, follow industry best practices, am highly experienced and devoted to this vocation. References provided.
