I obtained services from this family / home daycare, dayhome and I find that:

"One of the hardest decisions for my husband and I was to decide where our daughter would go for daycare once I returned to work. For us, it was extremely important to find someone with similar values (to us), a second home away from home and someone that we completely trust to essentially co-raise our child.

Heidi met with us and answered all of our questions; she immediately put me at ease and was extremely understanding and compassionate regarding my anxiety of leaving my daughter at daycare. At the time, she didn’t have an opening (during the timing of the end of my mat leave). We spoke to other providers, but the fit never seemed to be quite what we felt with Heidi. Thankfully, months later (a couple months before my mat leave was over), Heidi called us when she had an opening and we were immediately on board! Three years later, we still think it was the best decision for our family and we are most fortunate to have both our children under her exceptional care.

Why is she such an exceptional daycare provider? She is extremely compassionate, understanding and truly amazing with children. Children under her care are extremely loved, and learn to be respectful and kind little human beings. The children spend a lot of time outdoors in nature, do a lot of crafts, free-play and also circle/story-time. In my mind, it is a great balance of free-play/exploration, routine and learning activities. The lunch meals are amazing hot lunches, and our kids frequently have seconds (or thirds). Nutrition/meals was one of our key concerns, and with Heidi, we know our kids are eating well. There is also a community playgroup twice a week, just across the street, which is fantastic.

Our kids love going to Heidi’s, and she has really become part of our family. It is hard to express all of the wonderful things in this small review, but truly, if you are fortunate enough to have Heidi as your daycare provider, you’ve really hit the jackpot (cheesy, I know, but so true)!"

"Heidi has cared for our son since 2014. We previously were with another care taker who was unable to handle the transition phase of a 1 year old having his mother return to work. Heidi not only helped our son adjust but also got him into a nap routine. Heidi offers structure and routine. The meals are home cooked and healthy, providing a variety of well balanced options. Heidi organizes a playgroup at the community centre allowing the kids to interact with other children and toys. In the summer the kids spend a lot of time outside getting fresh air and plenty of room to run around and play at the park. Heidi has had a great impact on our son. He often leaves her house wanting to return. She shows love and compassion to all her daycare children, making them feel like part of her family. We have been very happy with the care Heidi has given our son.

"Heidi has taken care of both my girls - one since age 4 and the other since she was 6 months. My youngest now 11 still visits after school on occasion not because we need after school care, but because she misses Heidi! Some of my favorite things about this loving caregiver are: the creativity of the crafts she does with the kids, the love of reading, and story telling she has and helped instill in my girls, the amazing skill she has of getting them to try new foods, and the consistent house rules (no elbows on the table). Heidi is a kind and patient caregiver. She taught me how to be a better parent:). I highly recommend Silly Goose! Leigh"

"Our story with Heidi and Silly Goose Daycare began in September 2013 when our former provider was presented with an amazing career opportunity. While we supported her in her new endeavour, we were very saddened to lose her and fearful about finding a new daycare that provided a happy and safe environment for our most prized possession; our sweet baby girlie. All of our fears and concerns were alleviated the moment Heidi returned our call. We felt immediate reassurance in her voice. Call it instinct, but I knew that our sweet baby girlie was in great hands.

The phone call was followed by a face-to-face meeting where Heidi welcomed us into her home and discussed with us her philosophy; whereby she believes she is playing a role in helping you raise a little person that will grow into a wonderful adult. I have to say that what we found most comforting is that Heidi has chosen to be a daycare provider; this was not a choice imposed on her by her life circumstances or as a method for her to stay home with her own children. We’re not implying that this was a deal-breaker, but the fact that Heidi has three wonderful grown children was quite telling.

She made it very clear that she wanted us to be comfortable with our choice and that she would understand if we chose another daycare. She even recommended that we interview other providers before making our final decision. At the end of the day our comfort level was the priority.

And so our journey with Silly Goose began. We chose not to transition our sweet baby girlie, but opted to jump in feet first with a full time schedule. I’m sure I texted and emailed Heidi a hundred times that week. Her replies were always understanding and reassuring. I knew we had made the right choice on the morning of our sweet baby girlie’s second day when she woke up with the biggest smile and said “I go see Heidi”. There has not been a day that she has objected or resisted going to daycare. There are even days when she asks to go before she is out of her pyjamas.
What we want to convey to anyone thinking of choosing Heidi as a daycare provider, is that she truly loves our daughter and wants to contribute to her development in the best way possible. I am certain that once sweet baby girlie grows up and no longer requires daycare, Heidi will remain a fixture in our lives."

"Silly Goose Home Daycare is exactly what we were hoping for when my husband and I sat down to brainstorm our dream daycare! My husband and I agonized over what we felt was one of the biggest life decisions; essentially deciding who was going to help raise our daughter (because the reality is that this person would spend more waking hours with her than we would)! We feel extremely fortunate and grateful to have found a co-parent in Heidi.

Heidi is extremely compassionate, patient and nurturing with her kids (and with anxious first-time parents). You can tell that she genuinely loves what she does and loves being around kids! Heidi teaches the kids empathy, respect and what is right from wrong; this truly shows when all the children at her daycare are wonderful to be around. She encourages learning and discovery with fun activities and play. She takes the kids to playgroup, to the park, and a lot of time is spent outdoors, all while providing routine and structure to the day.

Our daughter started there in January (2014) and has completely flourished under Heidi’s care. Our daughter has developed amazing socialization and communication skills (increased signing, pointing, and words). The hot lunches are amazing, my daughter often has 2nd (or 3rd) helpings and they are hearty and healthy meals. I know she is eating well at Heidi’s! The best feeling is that our daughter is so excited to go to Heidi’s every day and has no problems waving bye and blowing kisses to us when we drop her off in the morning!

I am also a first-time parent, and as one of the other moms mentioned Heidi is very supportive during the returning to work/leave your child at daycare transition. Heidi would send me updates during the day so that I wasn’t worried or stressed out while at work. Heidi was very, VERY patient when having to nap train our very, VERY stubborn non-napping daughter!
Heidi is excellent at communicating with parents, something that was so important for me in a care giver, and she even sends home little daily written reports with updates about our daughter’s day (just in case there isn’t time to chat at pick up).

There are so many excellent things to say that I’m sure I haven’t covered them all. Heidi loves what she does and does it all extremely well. What more could you ask for?"

"I have been using Heidi as my daycare provider since February 2014 - as a new mom, I was really nervous about returning to work and leaving my son in someone else's care. Heidi was very supportive, even texting me with updates every few hours. She made the transition so smooth, and I quickly learned that my son was in good hands, safe, nurtured and engaged in all activities.

I am relieved I found Heidi - my son loves her too! All the children are happy and playing when I get there, its such a comforting environment. I love the enclosed yard, and the fact that the Sawmill Creek Community centre is just across the road - outings there twice a week is great. Her routine is consistent and easy to maintain on weekends. She provides excellent meals and snacks, stories/song circle time, and outdoor activities to name a few...

I would certainly recommend Heidi to any parent. She really has given me a peace of mind with my child's well-being and development. Her positive attitude, energy and nurturing attention to each child is amazing."

"Heidi has a wondeful daycare setting. My boys have learned manners and respect being with Heidi the last few years. She gets to know each child individually and no matter the situation will adapt her attention to their specific needs whether its quiet time, extra time on homework or whatever the need is. The Boys love going there as well as their friends and never want to leave !!!!. It also helps that she is located across from the park and community center and involved in the community. I highly recommend it !!"

"Finding a daycare and someone you can trust implicitly to look after your precious little one's seemed like the most daunting task of my life, until I met Heidi. Walking into Heidi's home feels so warm, safe and caring. It is so pretty and whimsical. It is just the type of place I would have loved to be in as a child. My daughter is always coming home with new songs, dances, crafts and funny stories about her day. The yard is beautiful and enclosed. There is also a community center literally across the street...a one minute walk. This means my children get to play with new toys and new friends two mornings a week, very close to home.
I've also noticed that parents who choose Heidi stay with her until school age and beyond. This means my daughter has been able to keep the same wonderful friends for years. She is also getting to that age (3) when she doesn't want to come home when I pick her up which I consider a good sign :)
Heidi's has gone above and beyond the call of duty with my children and I can't recommend her enough. My parents live out of town and Heidi volunteered graciously to take my daughter for the night while I delivered my second baby girl. It meant so much to me that she was in a safe and happy place with people that love her while I was away.

"We chose Heidi to be our childcare provider, even before we actually needed her! We had watched, from afar, her interactions with the children she was with and actually thought they were her very own. She provides care with love, consistency, and creativity. Heidi allows kids to be kids, while also teaching them the skills and tools they need to become contributing young adults. All my children of different ages and different personalities have blossomed and thrived under her care. Heidi has a wealth of knowledge in both child development and the world in general, which serves both the parents and children well. She can help a first time mom, an overwhelmed father of a teenager, a baby learning to speak, or a child working on a project about Medieval Times. All of this, plus gourmet lunches that are healthy, satisfying and delicious! We whole-heartedly recommend Heidi and Silly Goose Daycare."
