We provide a loving and nurturing environment where children can enhance their emotional, social, physical, problem-solving, creative and cognitive development. My educational curriculum focuses on play, exploration, nature, early literacy and positive social skills, as well as a lot of love and support in the first critical years. I have created a stimulating theme-based seasonal curriculum tailored to developmental stages, with a focus on early literacy and real-world exploration.
Music-Centered Daycare
At "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star", many activities center around discovering the world of music and feature hands-on opportunities to play instruments (i.e. the piano/keyboard, xylophone, electric guitar, drums, tambourine, etc.). My assistant and I have a combined seventy years of experience teaching music. Remember that, unlike most daycares, we don’t charge extra for these experiences!
Our Facilities
Multi-purpose space consisting of a kitchen and living room/music studio; filled with a huge variety of toys for all ages, musical instruments, learning and crafting tools.
There are four bedrooms, allowing us to accommodate each child in a private bedroom where we can tailor their environment to their individual needs. We have five playpens, although the bigger beds are available for older kids.
For breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, we are using safe, new, and easy-to-clean IKEA chairs.
We have a cozy garden out back with swings, a child-sized John Deere tractor, small Little Tikes cars appropriate for ages 18 months and older, and many more fun things.
Other In-Home Activities
In addition to music, other stimulating activities include singing, dancing, flashcards, reading books and/or attending library story-time events, coloring, drawing, painting, celebrating birthdays and learning why and how we commemorate various holidays, costumed role-play, and so forth.
We receive regular updates from CCPRN (the Child Care Providers Resource Network), keeping us abreast of the latest resources (books, DVDs, etc.) and numerous fun and learning events held in and around Ottawa.
Nap Time
For little stars, nap time will certainly occur whenever needed, but we will aim for a nap at 1 pm. Please let us know if your child “didn’t sleep much last night,” so we can modify our schedule that day to make room for an earlier nap.
We're always looking forward to being a good fit for a new family and to having a wonderful little friend in our "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" daycare. Please visit us to learn more about our glorious routine of eating, napping and playing. We're always on the GO with our Little Folks and our "Favourite Destinations" list includes our apple tree garden, Alta Vista Park, Story Time for Babies and Toddlers at Alta Vista Library. Daily trips are very secure as all our points of interest can be reached within 15-30 minutes by slow walking around the neighbourhood using a quad stroller.
