Description

**I currently have 2 children in my care and am only looking to care for 4 in total in order to provide a higher quality more one on one type care for the daycare family. Thankyou.**

I've created a nurturing, safe and enriching home like environment for our daycare family. You get the tender care of loving 'mama bear' care provider with the added benefit of a skilled early childhood educator in an in home setting.

A little bit about me:
*I am a fun loving mama to a toddler who loves diggers, hockey and all things farm related. :)
*Member of the Childcare Providers Resource Network of Ottawa Carleton (CCPRN).
*6 + years experience in licensed childcare centres for infant programs aged 6 weeks & up, toddler programs, preschool, kinder and school age programs in Ottawa + 1 yr experience as live in nanny for a family with 2 girls aged 4 & 6 yrs.
*ECE courses taken through Algonguin College. I consider my ongoing professional development as a childcare provider to be of utmost importance and attend workshops and seminars. I also subscribe to various early childhood education publications to keep myself current and educated on the issues & 'what's new' in childcare.
*English and French speaking childcare provider with American Sign Language (ASL) education and career experience (Canadian Association of the Deaf), all of which will be used from time to time during circle time and to extend learning opportunities.
*current police records check & up to date references available.
*CPR & First Aid certified
*I love reading all kinds of books and try to always have something on my night stand to read, enjoy camping and playing baseball (among a variety of other sports!)

Here's a few of my offerings:
*Fully fenced 36x20 pesticide free backyard. (with all kinds of birds and squirrels to watch!)
*Walking distance to beautiful (and well shaded) Nanaimo Park and Morrison Park, both of which have superb play structures and are clean and well shaded.
*Play area on main floor of home in well lit living space. Child friendly furniture.
*outdoor play as much as possible, special outings, indoor play and activities fostering early literacy, numeracy, language, fine and gross motor, sensory and socio-emotional skills through both free and structured play (ie age appropriate preplanned story and baking activity).
*homemade nutrient rich lunches & snacks (note: local and organic foods used when possible and/or in season.)
*Weekly meal plans posted.
*non toxic cleaners used in the home; plastic free where possible
*Monthly themes based on children's interests (emergent curriculum) ie. learning abc's with trains as a theme if children are interested in trains at that time.
*daily age appropriate circle &/or storytimes focussing on children's interests and early learning themes (ie. what do we wear in winter time? what is the weather like today?) I can't say enough abou tour love of books and how much I foster early literacy through rhyme, rhythm and storytime...!
*Positive Discipline/Guidance approach to foster positive behaviours. (assisting in problem solving, communication and trust in a non punitive environment.)
*monthly calendars with themes posted and log books completed daily and sent home with parents for feedback.
*parent guide with detailed information on my services, daily routine and contract provided.
*excellent lending library available to parents in our daycare on topics ranging from nutrition, to infant care to toddlerhood, to behaviour as well as arts & craft books etc.
*cloth diaper-ers welcome!
*One of the children in my care is my own child.
