Edit: Do I have to be a licenced daycare in order to claim all my expenses when I file my taxes...
That's what I always thought. A friend of mine asked me if she had to be licenced to file her taxes as a business. I said no, but then second guessed myself. Like, in order to claim all the expenses, do I have to be a licenced daycare? Sorry, I'm tired today, I didn't word that properly lol
From what I've read, no. As long as you are claiming income from your business (licensed or not) you can claim expenses.
Yes .... basically you have a home based business that results in income and has expenses you file as 'self employed' and fill out the paperwork for 'self employed' .... regardless of being contracted with a licensed agency or just private home childcare provider, regardless of being full or only having 1 child in your program, you are still required to claim all your income, provide receipts to your client and you can write off any reasonable expense within the guidelines for our industry.
