Scatterbrained parents

Do you ever have parents that just aren't paying attention to things? I had a parent bring there child today with ONE DIAPER in the bag. For a 9 hour day. OMG. How do you not check the diaper bag before you leave and make sure it's stocked? These are the parents who didn't want to leave any supplies here with me, and preferred to bring them every day in a bag and take them home each day. This isn't the first time they've forgot something either. One day it was the kid's soother, and let me tell you, nap time was not fun that day. Another day it was the bottle. :no:

I would call them and tell them to bring you some diapers. How are you to go 9 hours with one diaper change??? Then I would tell them that if they continue to forget items that make THEIR child's day more comfortable, then they will HAVE to leave items at your house so that it does not happen again.

Oh yes, I've already contacted them and told them to bring me more this morning. And I think after this, I will let them know they need to leave things here. I understand that mornings are busy, and this is exactly why I request that supplies be left here. I don't understand why they don't want to leave things here though, perhaps I should just ask.

Yup I agree they need to leave a supply and if they refuse then you need to check the bag every morning before they leave to make sure they have everything and if something is missing hand them Bach the child and the bag and tell them to go get it ....they will leave supplies after that .... Why should you have to deal with a screaming kid because they forgot his nap time item or have to sit in a crappy diaper cause there isn't anymore .... Truly how irresponsible !!!! I would tell them to leave supplies or find other daycare

I have parents bring 20 diapers every Monday and I have a cupboard space for each child. That way they only have to remember to pack diapers on the weekend and it's working. If I start to get a surplus I let them know they don't have to bring any for a week.

After too many days of suffering with insufficient diapers, no change of clothes or the dreaded no soother in the bag there is no longer a choice but to leave the required items in your child's cubby at daycare. It is just part of the process. Why should we suffer just because a parent doesn't have their act together. I make it sound nice like I am doing them a favour by making their morning routine go smoother but really it is for me.

Playfelt, that is exactly the reason I serve breakfast to the children also. You always word everything perfectly.

I don't understand those that prefer to bring everything daily. My goal is to make things as easy for the family as possible...the less they have to carry/remember in the morning, the easier I would think?!?! I can only think there is some paranoia attached re: Them wanting to track supply usage? I have one parent that leaves supplies, but insists on bringing all extra clothes home every weekend (and yes, they'd been forgotten a number of times...until I had to send her home in a set of my son's clothes...since then the clothes haven't been forgotten)....I just don't understand at all sometimes!

Parents bring diapers here by the case same for wipes I let them know when there is a weeks worth left. Naptime items are left here .... My parents even leave rubber boots and splash pants here

Boots and splashpants is always the worst for me because we do outside play at the end of the day so they are wearing them. Most parents won't take the time to take the child out of the splashpants so they go home in them but don't always bring them back the next day.
