How many hours do you consider a half day and what do you charge for 1?
My half days are 4 hours or less and are $20/day.
My full days are 9 hours and under and my 1/2 days (which I don't ever want to do) would be less than 4.5 hours and I would charge $25. The idea is to discourage 1/2 days and encourage full days.
In my program a half day is a four hour morning block either 7:30 - 11:30 without lunch or 8:30 - 12:30 with lunch - at this time I do not offer a half day afternoon program as it is hard on children to come in to join the program just as we head into 'quiet time' as the full day children need an afternoon nap from their active mornings.
Fees are $5 less than my full day rate for the same reason Momof4 stated ~ to encourage clients to just take the full day and allow me not to be ruled by a 'clock' for the whole day ;)
If you show up at my house you pay for the space for the day. How long you stay is up to you as long as it is within my working hours. I don't take school age period so no before/after to consider.
My half day is 4 hours and $20.00. I also will only do a morning half day as it is too hard on me and the kids to come into care and go right to nap time. The odd time I've done an 11 - 3, lunch and nap, but even that doesn't always work out well. The kids want to play and socialize when they come, not eat and sleep.
My half day is 1-4 hours and I charge 5$ less than full day fees
I dont do half days. Its not worth it to me, its near impossible to find someone to fill the second half of the day and then you are out money. You pay my full daily rate whether you are here for 4 hours or 8 hours.
i used to care for half day kindergarten.
i think the rate was $15 per day, that was like 3 years ago.
