I'm putting together tax receipts and where I write "for the period of ___ to ___" I am wondering what I should write if:
a) my last date of care provided for the year is Dec. 21, but
b) I charge for the stat holidays of Dec. 25-26
Is Dec. 26 considered the last day of the period indicated on my tax receipt?
My receipts are from Jan1 to Dec 31.
Ditto ... mine too cause it is just easier to have one form receipt that I just change the amounts and names on and print out ... so even if they left mid year that part of their receipt says ".... I hereby declare that as a childcare provider I have received the amount of $ XXXX.XX from ___________ for the childcare services rendered during the tax year of 2012 for the child (ren) named, ____________."Quote:

This is also what I do. It keeps it simple and includes the whole tax year and any fees I may have received. Even if a parent started half way through the year - it spells out the fact that this is XX$ that I received for the whole tax period and that there isn't another receipt missing somewhere.Quote:

Mine will say Jan 1 - Dec 31,2012 even though I actually included Dec 31 with the first week of January since most didn't pay till Jan 2 anyways as the first day of care for the week but paid for the full week and because it is just easier. I get paid on Monday and issue receipts on Friday which means for part timers I have everything by Friday. And then I give an annual statement end of January.
Dec. 31 for me too. Frankly, it was a pain. I had to make a receipt for the 31st, which was Monday, then start the next year and put the rest of the cheque on that receipt. It was the same for every other family, whether they pay for a week or 2 weeks or a month.
I gave my parents the option of including Dec 31 when they gave me their last Dec cheque or including it with the first one for Jan and I would be receipting accordingly. All chose to add it to Jan. meaning I could close off my books over the holidays and get set up for the new year.
