Everyone is sick today
so.......last week my daughter had a cold, I informed all the parents, who chose to bring their kids anyways. which is fine, as I was still open to having them. Well, today.....I have 7 little ones and all three 1 year olds are sick, whining and crying at me feet non stop. I can handle snotty noses and cuddles here and there but every time I sit down to play with the children the babies run to me, climb on me crying and push each other. Would you call the parents to pick up the kids, I feel bad because the cold started here. ugh....today is going to be rough!!!

I would say that it really depends...for me, if a child cannot keep up with our regular program, and needs constant attention, I would call the parents. You are not a nurse after all! And don't feel bad about the cold starting at your place, next time it will be someone else bringing it in.

well its gotta be nap time about now .....put them all down and then home they will go ....maybe some of the parents will keep them home tomorrow.

We are all in the same boat over here. Everyone is sick, or getting over being sick. I sent home 2 DCKs on Monday. One had a fever. Clear cut, Gotta go. The other was just crying, not eating, whining, wanting snuggles all morning. I finally called mum and told her the same thing Fun&care posted "cannot keep up with our program, clearly is sick and needs to be home".
I will not hesitate to call parents to pick up if their child is not well. A fever and nausea/diarrhea is not the only reasons I would send a child home. Feeling miserable and sick is a good enough reason.

Whiney and miserable = extra nap time.

I am hoping for extra long naps! The one dcb almost didnt make it through lunch. All the younger ones crashed. now its just keeping the older ones quiet a bit early for quiet time. Crossing my fingers they ALL crash! I need the break. I keep dreaming of that bottle of wine chilling in the fridge!!! lol:laugh::laugh::la ugh:

SO much for the long naps. One dcg woke up and pooped and wont go back to sleep, my 18 month old boy woke up screaming after an hour and wont go back down and the one dcg who isnt suppose to sleep for more than half hour (as per parents request) keeps falling back asleep. What a rotten day!

Aw, poor little ones and poor you, but no I don't send children home unless they have a fever or vomit or diarrhea. Usually a low temp and clear running noses accompany a virus. If you see green mucous and the child has a high temp then it could be an infection and I'd call the parents and suggest a doctor's diagnosis. That's part of the job, I'm afraid. I hope for long naps for your crew until the colds are gone too!
