Naptime
So my 3 yo dcb has been with me a week and he is settling in well. He clearly needs a nap and up until he started with me he had "stopped napping." My question is, he goes in his cot but has a hard time settling. If I leave them be they will talk and get out of their cots. I put them back in and redirect them to rest. I don't want to sit here in the dark everyday until they fall asleep but if I don't I don't get a break either because I am continually checking on them. Since it's it's only been a wk would you guess that this will just get better once the routine becomes more ingrained?

My suggestion would to sit nearby where they are resting so that as soon as they start talking or trying to get up, you can redirect them to be quiet or stay put. It should only take a few days for them to understand you mean business, and then you can have your quiet time back.

yup I agree with bookworm .....after a few days they wont move and they will fall asleep

I agree with Bookworm too. My nappers are all around me while I'm surfing on my computer as they drift off to sleep. I can shush them and they know they are not allowed to get up or create any nonsense whatsoever because they see me. Then I leave the room after they fall asleep and come back in before they wake up so they never know I've left.
