Sleeping arrangements - siblings

I have some new ones starting in the fall. They are younger siblings of current children attending my daycare. I currently have 4 children in 3 bedrooms. I've selectivly put 2 together that sleep well. In the fall when I have the 2 new siblings start I will need to double up on 2 rooms as I will have 5 kids all napping.

Would you put siblings in the same rooms to sleep? Or would you sleep them by age group.

Ages at that time will be 2 X 2.5, 12 months, 14 months and a 2 year old. So the siblings will be 2.5 and 12 months and 2.5 and 14 months.

If it were me, I think I'd put the two youngest in the same room, and then have your older two dck's could bunk together in another room. I'd be reluctant to put siblings in the same room just because sometimes kids will pull stuff with their brother or sister that they would not try on with another child. (i.e. not settling down, making a lot of noice during nap time) Maybe you could try "training" your current dck's to sleep in a shared room a month or so before the new babies arrive ? Hopefully, by the time the other two children start up they'll know the drill for naptime - lie quietly, no chatting with the other children in the room, etc. It also allows you some flexibility if you have to use the CIO approach with your new babies. not sure I'd put the 2 youngest together. I'd think more chance of them waking eachother up. At least, if a baby wakes an older kid you can explain to them to ignore baby and they still have to lie quietly...hopefully resulting in them falling back to sleep. I also wouldn't necessarily put the siblings together, unless they're the best sleepers. I put my best sleeper or oldest with baby. And usually put baby down a few minutes before so they're already asleep when their partner arrives, so no fooling around or keeping eachother up. And if it's 2 babies, well each in a different room put down slightly before the others, then 2 best sleeper each get a baby and sneak in quietly....

just relooked at ages...that's a lot of young ones. Noone over 2 1/2. Yikes! If one baby has a harder time you can even give him/her their own room. Bunk up the others.... Play with it. You'll figure out what works best.

Depending on the layout of your home, remember that any quiet and relatively dim space could potentially be a sleeping space. Is there a little used hallway that can be utilized? What about the play area, since hopefully everyone will be sleeping and it will not be used at that time. Heck, even a bathroom COULD have a playpen set up in it. LoL
If it gets too crazy with kids all in the same rooms, perhaps you can think outside the box (or bedroom, as it were)?

:laugh: I did have a period where I had to use a bathroom! Desperate times call for desperate measures. My bathroom is large and the mom was aware...
