Terminate after first day!!!! LONG POST

A little info to update y'all on my situation. I have my in-home daycare part-time. I have a sensitive child at home with some behavior issues and wasn't sure how they would adjust so always left it part-time. I had care for a child..sweet child the parents well, sometimes were no shows, sometimes they were asking last minute for care (I'd think I would have that day off, plan an appointment and get a text at like 10pm asking for care) Most times I had to track the parents down to find out when they were bringing the child etc..no communication from them! ALSO: it was always noted right from the start my hours and they were always fine with my hours and the fact I do not take any children under the age of 2 (if you are wondering why, again sensitive child at home with behavior issues) Fast forward to December. I had to close my daycare for a few weeks as my child ended up with phenomena for the second time. It was suggested I close daycare for a bit and try my best to keep illness away from my child until their immune system gets a boost. With that being said, daycare child's parent decided to go to another care. I wasn't totally upset by it as I felt it was hard dealing with that family and dealing with daycare in general with the growing needs of my child at home. I then receive a text asking if the child could come back in May.. I said "YES" and would give it a go. However, they wanted me to take their 14 year old daughter. I stressed to them I don't take anyone under 2 and my reasons why. They still pressed on with it and I felt I had to say yes too. They wanted me to start care in May. Low and behold the parents text me thursday NIGHT wanting care Friday!! I kept the daughter friday and it was pure hell. The child screamed I mean that blood curdling scream a colic baby has!! I couldn't sit the baby down because they would try to throw herself on the floor! I was scared they would hurt herself!! My daycare is under a agency so I'm not legally allowed to use a playpen. I had the child in my arms screaming for 3 hours as I sang, rocked, and paced the floor to console her. I gave in and called and had the child picked up...it was impossible for me to care to the other child and my own. The other kids were scared by all the screaming and were pretty distraught with it all. I guess I'm to the point where I am done, done done... I just don't know how to break it to the parents. Besides all this and them pushing for me to take younger, they also want me to care nights! I have another part-time job in the evening and of course actives and things I take my older child to.. I just don't know how to break this to the parents...ughhh just at a loss here what to do?? :no:

Just tell them you cannot provide care for their children! Simple! I know, it is very hard to do...I just terminated someone and I still feel queasy! But, you cannot allow them to change the rules of YOUR daycare. The crying from the 14 month old sounds completely normal for a first day, but that is why you don't take kids that age. You are letting these parents push you around! It is YOUR business and you decide how it is run, not them!

You have established the boundries due to the needs of your child. Stick to them. People like this do not hear the word "no" and don't understand why everyone can't meet THEIR needs. They have given you nothing but grief. Terminate and sign with relief :)

You have been nothing but amazing in doing what you have done for them already. They were lucky to have you! Don't feel bad. Sometimes we have to put ourselves and our family first. Good Luck and Take Care!:)
