I have been told by a few providers in my area that I should charge my full rate when my B&A School kids are here all day. Right now I charge $20/day (September to June) and only charge an extra $10/day if the school is closed due to a strike.
The norm in the area is $10 to $15 /day.
Do any of you charge more if the child is here for a full day (snow day, PA day etc.)?
i charge a flat rate of $10 day but I am increasing it for any new clients to $15 day. the only reason I charge this little is because another provider near me only charges $4 /hr. I always charge $30/day for P.A.Days, snow days, strike days etc. but I should chage $35 because that is my part time rate.
Full days for school aged kids on PA days and spring/summer break here is the same as babies and toddlers pay for full days.
What's your full day rate? Why WOULDN'T you charge a full day rate if they are there for a full day???

I have only been doing this a short time and was unaware that others where charging full fees on full days. I just thought that you charge enough to help cover for these days. I am now rethinking this.

Think about it this way - if parent decided to not use your daycare for a full day and instead hired a girl in grade 8 who was 12-13 years old to babysit she would be paying them probably at least $20 for the day so for sure that is what you should be charging which is the b/a rate of $15 plus $20 to equal $35 like the rest of the kids.
