Wwyd?
So, I ended up giving two weeks notice to a family last week in regards to some aggressive behaviour (biting). It has been going on for a while, but I finally am at the end of my tolerance level. Anyways, next week is their last week here.
Today, the child bit another child.
What I would really like to do is tell the parents at pick up today that they are done as of today, and not to bring their child next week.
Do you think that I should just suck it up for one more week, or that I am well within my rights to do this. I do have a blurb in my handbook about immediate termination due to agressive behaviours.
TIA!

I'd say you'd be within your rights to give immediate termination. Biting is such a nasty, aggressive behavior. If it's covered in your handbook, and they make a stink about it, point it out to them.
-
Yep, I would terminate immediately. Why put up with that and the possibility of more kids getting hurt?
-
I terminated immediately when there were issues with violence. The parents were furious, so be prepared, but we have to do what's best for the group. We can't keep a child on who is endangering others.
-
I agree with the above and terminate immediately.
Good luck.

So what in your contract regarding payment in this case ? If you term today do you refund their money for tomorrow and next week or do they forfeit the money?
-
Crayola, I have that the deposit is then forfeited in the case of instant termination.
-
Ahh ok .... Mine says that too but just wondering .... So what did you do? Stay or go?

Ugh.... I chickened out. Another parent showed up at the same time and then I let my emotions win over my brain. They aren't here tomorrow and I only have them Mon-Thurs next week. It is only four more days. However, I did let it be known that if there is an incident next week, I'm calling her right then and she has to pick her kids up and they are done.
