What would you do?
I have an older child in my care, 7years old.
This morning Dad informs me that this child is being punished and there is to be no tv for him for the next 2 weeks?????
I was a bit taken back as I would not expect my punishments to follow him home.
I agree we have to work together, but should I really have to continue the punishment here?
This has never happened to me.
I don't have the tv on a lot, usually at drop off, or for a movie when he is off of school.
Maybe I could ask for input about the punishment......like maybe he could clean or cook.....lol.

So who is being punished here? Now, during the time you have the t.v. on you have to segregate dcb to another room so he can't watch? Sorry parent, home punishment is enforced at home, not daycare. Did he tell dcb's teacher that should she show a video in class his son needs to leave the room?

I agree. I'd talk to the parents and explain that you take care of him as part of the group, not one on one like they do. Any punishment that they are giving him is going to affect the group as a whole, and can't be carried over to your house. As you said, you wouldn't expect a parent to continue with your disciplinary strategies.
If it was a big deal that would affect his behaviour at home and at daycare, I'd expect parents to include you in the discussion. Maybe you can ask that next time they call you about it and you can decide if its logical to have a consequence at your house as well. It sounds to me like dad got mad and when "no tv for two weeks" didn't get much of a response, he tacked on "not at daycare either!"
