Another potty question!
Hi all
I am writing up next month's newsletter, and including a blurb on potty training. The ages of the kiddos in care right now means that I am looking at 2-4 doing so in the next 6-ish months.
I would like to make sure that we are all on the same page before the process starts.
Is it unreasonable to ask that the children understand what is going on before instituting the training? It's my personal belief that they should know what is happening, but I don't know if that is something that I can expect from others.
Does anyone want to share their "potty guidelines"?
Thanks!!

I think all kids learn to use the potty at different times, depending on their personality, bowels, language, etc.... there are many factors at play. I've seen 3 year olds progress and then regress- it can be very frustrating. I think you should talk to the parents and see where they are at in terms of potty training at home. Good luck!

One of my requirements/requests is that they are able to take everything off and sit independently. That way they can at least start the process, which is helpful when you're doing 2-3 in a row.
It also helps put a stop to parents wanting to start way before their kids are ready.
