My turn to vent

I have been dealing with runny noses and early and late drop offs and a termination. I had dcp grandma pick up and poo poo my concerns about dck being sick !! That after a certain amount of time they are not contagious anymore and coughs and colds can be treated with cough syrup !!! Ugh I said not here they can't and I just got the look ! I am so frustrated because I feel like I plan and care for their children to the best of my ability !! And when it may inconvenience them I am treated like I'm over exaggerating !!! I know that I should have thicker skin but pick up is getting so frustrating !!! Oh my dck is dirty ! Yes well we play outside before pick up ! Oh he's wet !! Yes it was raining he went down the slide first !! Did you let dck sit in the puddle ?? I'm yes !! That's the game we were playing !! Sit in the puddle !!! Ugh of course not !!!! It just seems like I have a good day with the kids , they are happy , blow me a kiss bye bye but there is always something !!! My own dd is waiting to have me to herself and I feel like I am getting reemed out ! I know I could say something but I just want to get on withy night ! Dcp and I get along but dcp grandma and I !!! Everyone smiles we look pleasant but little digs keep coming !!! Maybe it is just me !! Maybe I'm still old school where I need that confirmation of a job well done !!! Argh !!! And I'm the type of person who finally speaks her mind only to find out , oh that's the day their dog died or they lost their job !! I always look like I'm kicking when they are down !!! It's a no win !!!

Sorry to hear that pick up's are rough for you! Just keep being nice but firm and hopefully dcgrandma realizes that she can't just walk all over you and "poo poo" your concerns. Maybe dcgrandma is just worried she will have to look after her sick granddaughter? lol

Mmmmm smarties and Starbucks seem to make everything better for me. And decorating for Christmas, though that's really only a seasonal perk!

I know how frustrating it is. I feel sometimes like we cook nice and healthy meals for the kids, keep our house clean while at the same time dirtying it with activities, sensory bins, and messy play, wipe noses and change diapers (without getting sick, mind you), with a smile on our face. And when you're proud at the end of the day for managing to do all of those things, someone feels the need to question something.

This grandma sounds like a real bummer though. Would it help to maybe mention her negativity to the parents?

Yes that is it exactly !!!! I feel so accomplished at the end of the day and then they are the last pick up !! Dcm is very young and I really like her but I think she relys on her mom for so much she just lets her have her say . Dcm has said in the past her and her mother have different parenting styles . I need to keep it short and sweet for pick ups . I usually let them know how the day went , lunch ect dcgrandma usually asks about naps because she thinks dck naps too little here (2hrs) she puts down at 2:30 and he sleeps until 5:30 and goes down around again at 9:30 I have nap from 1-3 so dvk gets cranky around 7:30 !! I get texts all the time did he sleep ?
Usually she says , everytime dck comes he's cranky all night !
Ugh I thought I was fine lol !!!

Does Grandma do the pick-up every day? Or just once in a while?
If it's every day, I think you need to chat with mom. I presume she is the one paying the bill, and SHE is your client, not Grandma. Let her know you are feeling like G'ma is not happy with your performance, but that you do not see any major concerns. Ask her if she is happy so far.
If Grandma only picks up once in a while, then I think it's best to let grumpy dogs be grumpy. LoL
Do your best to smile and nod. Answer her questions, texts etc. politely, but direct and to the point. "Yes, he napped from 1-3 today, our usual nap time."

The complaints seem to always come from the same parent don't they?!Try to take it with a grain of salt. I know that it's not easy, I would approach the parent and let them know that you're not willing to tolerate the attitude.

Grandma picks up every night ! I've been trying just to get them out the door as quick as possible !! Friday mittens weren't on , I got oh mittens need to be on , Monday mittens on , I got oh are these wet ? ( yup we went outside in MITTENS !) lol so I am trying to be more thick skinned .i really like dcm and she is always very sweet to thank me !! So I'm trying !!!
Sometimes I feel like all I do is talk to dcp !! I look after kids all day and then parents after lol

Oh boy. I feel for you. That has to be so frustrating every day for you!
Honestly, I would have the kiddo all ready to go and keep pick ups short and sweet: "xx had a good day, ate well had xx for lunch. slept well the usual naptime and played well, have a good night xxx and see you in the morning."
Also it may help if you have a daily schedule posted by your door. I have a general schedule posted but that all changes based on the weather and mood of the kiddos.
I wonder if SHE is in fact the one paying for the daycare or giving her daughter the $$$ which would explain her control issues.
Just remember, its not YOU its HER.
