Nursery Rhyme Theme
Hi there, I am starting a Nursery Rhyme theme with my group and was looking for any tried and true activities or art projects that you have done. I have already started with 'Baa Baa Black Sheep' (sang the song and painted some black sheep) and 'Hey Diddle Diddle' (practiced the poem and taught the older kids how to draw a cat) and the kids have really enjoyed them. Funny how nursery rhymes seem to be forever popular! I think I will drag this theme out as long as possible, there are so many nursery rhymes.
Not really looking for websites links (as I can find that myself), but if you have some things that you have already done yourself that were successful I would love to hear about it. Preferably things that involve little prep - I don't seem to have enough hours in the day as it is! LOL
I have three 4 years old and two 20 month olds.
Thanks so much!

Humpty Dumpty is a favourite one - we hold any stuffed toy on a small box and sing and act out.
Mary Had a Little Lamb - cut out a lamb from stiff cardboard and have them glue cotton balls or batting onto it. Add a string. Let them walk around while singing the song and dragging their sheep as if it is following after them.
Itsy Bitsy Spider - use a paper towel tube and a plastic spider or one printed and laminated to act out.

Humpty Dumpty...hard boil some eggs and let the kids drop the eggs, than they can peel the egg and eat it for snack.
Jack and Jill....bring out the water table and some pails
Itsy bitsy spiders...do you have some spiders left over from Halloween? You can let them play with them or decorate them
The one where he sticks his thumb into the pie(drawing a blank on the name lol)...make pies out of pie plates or paper plates
Mary had a little lamb...print out pictures of a lamb and get the kids to glue cotton balls on it.
