I had a parent ask to come 5 min earlier everyday in order to get to work on time. I charge according to the time you use, not a daily flat rate. At the end of the week without charging that is 25 min of free care, just over an hour and a half per month. It seems trivial to charge for five minutes everyday, but it does add up. Would you charge for this?
Is it a new family or a family that is currently in care and finds they just need that extra 5min? If it's a new family I would be more likely to charge just to set the precedence that your policies and rules are solid. If they have been in care for awhile and are otherwise a great family then I might let it go...if they are in care and have been making life hard in some other way then I'd charge for the 'burden' of changing your day. The time does add up and 5min can quickly become 10min...
No I wouldn't charge. It is only 5 minutes. How do you calculate how much you charge?
I wouldn't charge and if they are decent clients then they will appreciate the "professional good will" and hopefully send some referrals your way. Sometimes the little things (and this goes both ways) make the strongest impression.
They have been with me for over a year. I would charge then for 45% of an hour per week. I'll leave it. but it it starts getting earlier and earlier than I will charge
To me 5 minutes isn't a big deal but if they want to change their time again then tell them that the fee will change and a new contract will need to be signed.
I wouldn't charge, assuming it's still within your operating hours. However, if you feel they are stretching that 5 minutes then they need to sign up for a different block of time.
It's a slippery slope ! But I would prob give it a try and make sure they know it's not an invitation to make their own hours !!
5 mins is 5 mins to me lol. I charge for 5 mins late so would probably charge that fee for 5 mins early as well.
I do admit, it would depend on the family though. If they have made it work for a year, why the need to change now?
