BedBug advice PLEASE!

Hi Everyone! I've been a reader for 3+ yrs, now time to become a poster! :yes:

So my worst nightmare of being a dayhome provider has arrived!! It was just brought to my attention this week that one of my dcf grandparents have bedbugs! To make it worse the mom very casually mentioned that she wasn't even going to tell me but her mom told her she should...umm yeah!! They go there a couple days a week for childcare and weekend sleepovers!! So my question is has anyone ever had to deal with this either professionally or personally? I sent her a text asking to please leave the diaper bag at home (because face to face she just talks over me, rude I know). Then the next day says she saw it but insists that they don't have them at their house, then the next breath says everyone has bedbugs to some extent just depends how bad the infestation is! :blink: I know that's NOT true! So I've been bagging the diaper bag and coats up then tying it shut, wash/dry the clothes for the day (they come in jammies) mean while searching and looking all day long in cribs, spare beds, playroom couches etc! I asked if the grandparents had their home sprayed or heated yet and she said no her mom had just vacuumed really good top to bottom and that the bugs were better. That is not acceptable in my books when this could potentially shut me down for awhile. The mom is just being really wishy washy about the whole situation and my nerves are shot from sleep deprivation stressing over it! lol
So now that I've wrote you all a novel, advice please! lol

I have this in my contract:
Head Lice and Bedbugs - I MUST be notified immediately if your child or any member of your household has head lice or if you have bedbugs in your home. Your child is not to attend daycare until after your home has been completely free of lice (multiple treatments given) or bedbug free. I realize this may mean your child is going to be away for a long period of time but this rule is to protect other children and my home. I reserve the right to request a letter from a professional that your home is bedbug free.

In this case I would be asking for a professional letter saying their house was professionally cleaned and that bedbugs are no longer present. No not everyone has bedbugs! OMG, she is thinking dust mites likely.

Oh Christ. I'd never even considered bedbugs. Have a head-lice/nit free policy but have never considered bed bugs at all.

I have the same as mickyc. Because they spend so much time at the grandma's I would be refusing care until the problem was fixed.

Ugh , I never even thought of bed bugs !!!!
