Illness policy
I am so frustrated at this time of year, due to children coming in sick and with fevers, and the famous "dose and drop" phenomenon. My policy says I will send them home if fever reaches 101, or with low grade fever and lethargy/not participating in all aspects etc. It also says do not bring children in with fevers-period, whether low grade or not. I have had 2 come in over the last week with fevers around 100, or fevers that magically appear 8 hrs after dropoff LOL. I'm not
stupid. It makes me so angry with Thanksgiving around the corner, and we will all be exposing our extended families to the germs that the daycare kids have brought in.
Just wondered what your fever policy states? Would you send home if they come in with a fever of 100? Feedback is greatly appreciated.

My policy says I terminate immediately if I find out they dosed and dropped ..... What would happen if you had to call an ambulance for the child and the emts asked if the child is on any medication and you said no cause you were never told and they od'ed the kid .... Seriously .... I terminate !

It is hard to prove "dose and drop" but when they're old enough to tell you what meds they had that morning and what colour it was, and the fever appears 8hrs later, I can make a pretty educated guess, or they were off sick the day before. How would you prove dose and drop?

you can't prove it unfortunately.
A fever of 100 I would send home especially if others in daycare are sick.

This isn't a court of law it's my business I don't have to prove it ... I said if I find out a parent dosed and dropped they are terminated
