What kind of First Aid/CPR course do we need to have, in order to comply with the standard of Bill 10?
Pretty sure my newsletter from the Child Care Providers Resource Network says that licenced home daycares are now required to have the full 2 days course. I am not sure about unlicenced...I feel like it might be up to us as it didn't say otherwise.
My first aid expires in mid Nov. I am on the fence if I should retake the course if I am closing in Feb. I have taken the course a million times over the years so I don't feel I NEED to course.
If unlicensed u don't need police check or first aid/cpr. If licenced....now required to have both under Bill 10
Toronto kids. I have found that all parents that ask about my having taken first aid no longer care about the dates when I say I have taken the full course 3x and the refresher course as well. I think they just want to know you have taken the care to complete the course. I don't know that I would retake the course right when it expires versus waiting a while and taking it at a good time for me...even if that is 1-2 yrs later. I really like the CCPRN's course that they offer for 2 evenings. It covers all the essentials without taking up 2 full days.
Thanks for the info, dear members. Mine had expired for sometime, while hubby's will expire in December.
I find it is worth redoing over and over, of course, every time I do, they change it a bit. Although, being honest, I do find it is getting more and more disturbing. Last year when I took it, I didn't sleep right for a week. They felt it was necessary to play a 911 recording of someone's last breaths. It was so awful.
In Que, the standard is now an 8 hour course, designed for childcare workers with a unit on allergies and Epi-Pen. It must be done every 3 years.
