Darn, I wanted to post "you dodged a bullet there" and two others have beat me to it. Great minds think alike? No sympathy here either, just congratulations for avoiding a nutso mother. If they bother you before they even sign up...... thank your lucky stars you found out she was crazy now!
Um.....why do you have to explain yourself to her? I ALWAYS have an ad on Kijiji!!!! Even when I'm not open. You never know when a client may leave and it never hurts to have new families lined up. Also, many first time parents start looking for daycare way before they need it so I want them to know about my daycare when they are looking! Playing devil's advocate here....but why was SHE looking at ads????? You don't want her, NEXT!

Wow, everything that went through my mind while reading your post has already been said: dodged a bullet, you didn't want that Mom to work with for years, she thinks she's the boss and your're the employee which is wrong, and by the way Congratulations on getting rid of them before they became your problem.

And here is a question for the mom - if she was so happy with your daycare and willing to sign with you then what is she doing still looking at the ads anyways - kind of a one way attitude there?
Definitely someone who thinks the world revolves around her and her wants/needs.

You are so lucky that this happened to you. Seriously the feeling hurt sucks, but had she not done it now who knows when and what would have come up with this "crazy lady" in the future. You shouldn't have to explain yourself. You don't have to answer to her and seeing how she hasn't paid a deposit or signed a contract, well the spot isn't hers to argue about!! BTW, screw the tea, its Friday, pour yourself a glass of wine and keep that chin up :D
