DCD reeking of cigarette smoke at pick up

The smell of cigarette smoke makes me ill as well.....disgusting smell.

BUT, I must admit that I'm with Skysue on this one. I've had smokers as clients in the past too. I didn't like it, I tried not to breath through my nose during pick ups but we can't very well tell someone not to come in our homes to pick up the children they've paid us to take care of because they smell bad. What if the smell was from body odor, or from a workplace. My dad was a farmer and would reek the place up when stopping in to grab something. We didn't like it, but that's life.

If someone is reeking of cigarette smoke and comes into my home which is my place of business, yes I will definitely tell them they must change their smoking routine before they enter my home. There are some outside odours we can't control, and the smell of bm's is part of our bodies natural function. If what a parent does on their own time comprimises the quality of the air I breath in my home, then yes, I'll call you up on it.

I have had boundary issues with this dcd from day one. Quick example: My door is always locked. The dcp's know this and totally agree that for security reasons, the door stays locked. When you come to pick up...you ring bell, I let you in. Easy Peasy. This dcd 3/4 times in the week, will try to open my door (jiggling the handle). He will pick up his child and linger. He will not leave even if his kid is dressed and ready to go. He will stand in my foyer, checking his phone,etc. That's just a few examples. The smoking concern is that a parent will come right after him, smell the smoke and think that someone in my household had a quick cigarette. The smell is that strong.

So yes, my home, my way or the highway. I have no issues with telling dcd to wait a few min. after JUST finishing a cigarette to come into my home. OR I can hand off dcb right out the door to him. Which I would prefer to do....

At pick up we were in the backyard and him and his wife came. So a moot point. I will address it when it happens again. at that moment.

I totally wouldn't be comfortable telling someone that they smelled, or tell them how to use their time when they're not at my home.

If you worked in an office and came back from your break smelling of smoke or wore too much perfume (or even wore perfume) something would definitely be said so why wouldn't we protect the air in our home?
