Play felt did you actually see it this morning? What's there any debate at all?? I am not great at politics but from my understanding now it will go to committee? Or is it debated in house?
Once it gets to the second reading - which it did on Thursday - the legislature typically gives the MPPs a few days to review the bill again and prepare their debate points. So the debate will likely be on Monday or Tuesday. And, debates take place usually first thing in the morning after their do their ceremonial stuff. But, as we have been saying all along, who the heck knows with the government! And, is customary, they don't meet in parliament on Fridays as they are supposed to work in their riding on Fridays so they aren't back at it until Monday anyway. Once it is debated it could go one of two ways:
1. It could go to committee which is where they revise the bill if there was a lot of debate against it. But something strange about this bill, in particular, is that it had a committee BEFORE it was presented.
2. It could just get voted on the day of the debate if there isn't too much opposition against it by the MPPs who debate it.
I guess we'll see! And, yes, the debate will be on their webcast for everyone to see. Start popping the popcorn.
I spoke to my girlfriend who works for a Senator and they haven't even heard or seen anything about this bill YET , she is the Senators right hand person..... When it does go to the committee she said it could be months and months before anything is done . Fingers crossed it does take as long as she said :)
She will update me as it goes ... she sits in on the committee meetings with the Senator :)
thats what my dd said too. It takes forever for a bill to pass, she said almost a year because it has to go thru so many people and then changes have to be made.
I actually do welcome some change in childcare. Mostly id love a way to be recognized as a "professional" childcare provider, not just a babysitter because i do believe there is a BIG difference. I am hoping that there will be some type of private licensing available to independent providers or some type of registry, I know it's a long shot and probably won't happen though.
I just want it over! I am tired of the discussions, the anxiety if I will be able to do this job anymore and mostly tired of the gobbledegook. Every article I read says something contradictory! I have been getting my husband to keep track of the proceedings and giving me a condensed version so I don't nod off while reading (lol) My big question is...where does it say WHO will be responsible for licensing us if that is what we choose? There was talk of us joining agencies (no thanks) and/or the hiring of inspectors. I would appreciate any insight, obviously I'm missing something. thanks
