I used the monkey wrap with my son when he was born and when he was big enough, an Ergo baby carrier. He was in it a lot because we were very active out and about with my three year old. I even breastfed while he was in the monkey wrap. Not the best but worked when we were out and about.
I also used a Moses basket on my counter at home in the kitchen so he was up out of the way from the older children. This worked well until he was more aware and then he could go in the swing or playpen.

Remember for the first little while your child will nap frequently and then get up feed and pretty much go back to bed. Set up one of the large play yards if you can or section a part of the room with furniture to make a baby area. Put a playpen in there for the child to use when awake - again remember child will be fine in there to roll around, roll over, etc for the first 6 months. Once they learn to stand up and cruise around the perimeter limit the time in there but by then they will be able to use other items and daycare will have mastered the leave baby alone.
